I thought it might be fun to have a thread of “personal bests”, AKA goals you have set for yourself and/or reached recently.
For me, I always wanted to be able to run, but it was really a struggle. Three weeks ago I started jogging, slowly. I could only run 1 minute at most, so I would run 1 minute, walk 1 minute, etc.
I set a goal for myself: By June 26 – my bachelorette party – I wanted to be able to run 20 consecutive minutes.
And yesterday, June 10, I hit my goal!!!
What is your personal goal? What are you working toward? How will you reward yourself when you get there?

Yay good for you!!
I started like that last year. this year I had a goal to be able to run a 10k – huge deal for this asthmatic.. I completed my first race on May 29.
Now my new goal is to be kind and patient at work, even in the most ridiculous situations… I have been waiting for almost two months now to start a new position, but the HR processes are sooooo slow and inefficient that I’m stuck here and there’s nothing I can do. As a result, I get annoyed quickly with the requests I get because I no longer want to be in my current position, I want my promotion!! So. There it is. Patience and kindness.

@egb – an awesome goal, no doubt. i can’t imagine how difficult it must be to keep plodding along in the same role when you KNOW you’re just waiting to move on to the next step. hang in there!!!

Yes. Especially since we just went through a major re-org and we just get redonkulous demands from everywhere because it seems like everyone lost their common sense when the change occured. uughh!
I’d like to sue the HR department for the salary I could have made during those months of agony.. We’re talking a 15K raise here!

My goal was to improve my 5K time by at least 2 minutes. It WAS 32 minutes and just this last weekend I came in at 27:59!!!
My new goal is to keep it up because I’ve been slacking ever since!
