I was just married in Charleston this past March, and we held our reception at the William Aiken House. It was absolutely beautiful, and everything went off without a hitch! The team there is incredibly responsible, capable and helpful.

Our wedding (this October) will be at Rice Mill Building. We just fell in love with the exposed brick and tin ceilings and gorgeous wood floors. We’ll have the ceremony out back, overlooking the marina. So far Andrea has been so helpful, especially as I’m planning from VA– she even sent me her sample book when I started to question my linen choices!

One of my favorite SC wedding spots is Atalaya Castle, in Huntington Beach State Park.  The courtyard at sunset is so rustic and beautiful, and when decorated with bright colorful flowers it is enchanting!

We are having our reception at the Cleveland Park Event Center in Spartanburg. I love the fireplaces, large wrap around porch and the grounds. It’s so pretty. Some other beautiful places are The Carriage House at Bleckley Inn in Anderson, SC, The Loom in Simpsonville, SC, The Clinton House Plantation in Clinton, SC and the loft area of the Peace Center in downtown Greenville.

Middleton Place Plantation is just my absolute favorite. My family would not hold up well with an outside wedding and my anxiety would not have been good for worrying about rain or not, but I think it is just the most beautiful place to get married. I have yet to see a wedding take place there that I’ve disliked.

I’m getting married at Debordieu on Oct. 1, 2011 and we saw NINE different venues, and this was our absolute fave!  We didn’t look in Charleston at all, though – I’m sure I would have loved some of those plantation houses!  I like our venue because we have the plantation/country club vibe for our ceremony (in a courtyard overlooking the marsh) and then our reception at their beach club, so we get the best of both SC worlds. =)  They have a facebook page, Weddings at Debordieu, with lots of photos if anyone wants to check it out!

I have to admit that I’ve been to only a couple of weddings in South Carolina, but the one at the Courtyard by Marriott Greenville Downtown (http://www.marriottgreenville,com/) was the most romantic wedding that I ever been! So beautiful!! In the perfect location by the river… Loved it!!!!

I would have loved to get married at Boone Hall Plantation, but after Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds wedding last weekend the price just went up!! LOL!  I’ve gone with my second favorite The Rice Mill.  Right on the water and I have to admit that i’m happy with my choice!!

@DorthaC:  Did they really jack up the price ALREADY? I’d think that if you had already been in touch with them prior to this, theyd keep you at the “old” rate?

@kariface the only problem was when I called them back yesterday they told me that my original quote was more than 30 days old.  Never heard that it would expire since it was really only about a month and half old and no one had booked the date.  I’m going to get my day of coordinator to help if possible.  I would think the old rate would still be good.  Amazing how that wedding changed the rates there so quickly.

I agree with owls, boonhall was my first pick, until I saw the price tag! Yikes! But it’s the same for other places here locally that aren’t 1/2 as nice as boonhall. It’s such a beautiful place for a wedding, especially the dock!

I think if money were no issue, that Cassique would be my first choice:
