Just for fun, I was wondering when other people on the boards were getting married and what lead to them picking their days?

My FI and I are getting married on June 28, 2008 which we picked because
1) We like the numerology of it (06/28/08 = 6+2=8+8+8).
2) It will be the four year anniversary of our first date.
3) It is the birthday of John Cusack, star of my favourite movie, Say Anything . . . *

So ladies, what are your dates and how did you pick them?

* This is really not a legitimate reason, I just thought it was a funny coincidence since, when I was a teenager, I used to wish for my very own Peter-Gabriel-Spouting-Boombox-Brandishing Lloyd Dobler.

I'm 11/3/07, which I've mentioned before was my late grandma's birthday! Also, november is our anniversary month (first time we dated 10 years ago it was 11/6, this recent dating anniversary 11/1), and my birthday is 11/5! Also- football and basketball have a break(Mr. Kiwi coaches) , and our wedding falls in the break time, which equals a good wedding date!

9/20/08..... no real significance, except for that we both like September, and the venue we were hoping for only had one Saturday open in September of 08

I chose July because I love the summer and it felt like it would be a fun time to celebrate through the years.

9/22/07...our first date was on 9/8/01, but in Los Angeles, early September can be HOT so we pushed it back. Other considerations were availability of the location we wanted and my uncle's birthday which is Sept. 29.

Our Wedding Date is October 20, 2007.  I have always known that I wanted a fall wedding- the weather here in Savannah is so nice during that time of year- and we went on our first date last October, so that's why we chose the month.  We picked the date because SEC Football is religion around these parts- and it is University of Georgia's off weekend.  Goofy reason to pick a date- but around here people are thanking us for it!  Go Dawgs!

05/24/2008... We chose this date because we wanted a May or June Wedding. We started looking in February of this year and that was the only date available at the place we wanted. Come to find out it is Memorial Weekend, which explains why it was open.

I'm getting married June 28, 2008 as well! We knew we wanted to get married in the summer because we've both got a lot of family who are teachers, as well as a lot of cousins that are still in school. We figured it would be easiest for everyone to travel during the summer. We knew several other couples getting married June 14 and June 21 so we knew those dates were out. July is a busy month as far as birthdays in my family, so we decided to go with June 28. Plus, I think it's just a pretty number :)

We are getting married 2/23/08. Feburary is in the off season. In our area it is cheaper. We are paying $5,000 less at our venue for the same services people pay double in the summer for. It is also his sisters bday that passed away.

August 23, 2008!  We picked it because I wanted a late August wedding (in Vancouver, July and August are pretty much the only months when it's not that likely to rain, and August is usually warmer than July) so we could get married outside.  Also, 23 is my favourite number, and I like that the 8's repeat in our wedding date 08-23-08.  I know that's silly, but I just like how it looks!

We picked 9/29/07 because we're going to the Big Island of Hawaii to get married.  Any earlier and we're still kind of in Summer tourist season (and the higher rates that go along with it).  Any later and we risk being trampled by Ironman Triatheletes.  If we waited until after Ironman, we'd be heading right into the holiday season and back up at peak season travel rates.

Nash0922--that's the day before my wedding was (5/25/07)!  We had the same Memorial Day realization after booking the venue.  Also, it was the night of my old high school's graduation--a big date for a lot of my friends (little siblings) and parents' friends (kids)!  Ah well.  Most people showed up anyway ;-)  Some people made a Memorial day vacation out of it :-)

May or early June 2009, because I'll be transitioning from school to internship and I'll have a few weeks off in between.

Soooooooooooooooooo far away!

08/05/07.
because our venue had the date open, it gave us slightly under a year to plan, and my brother (who walked me down the aisle) would be on his summer vacation.  it was all for practical reasons.

3/14/08 is our date.  I wanted 2/14/08 - how cute would a Valentine's Day wedding be??  But Feb is a crazy busy month for FI at work; so just pushed it back one month to March and kept the 14th.  That way on Valentine's Day I can always say "ooooh, 1 more month until our anniversary Sweetie" and he can't forget

We chose 4/26/08 mostly because our wedding will be in Jamaica and April is still one of the best months there.  Our resort starts lower rates after April 15.  So that's the Saturday we chose.

April 19, 2008!  We wanted April and picked school vacation week for teacher and student friends and family.  We also had to make sure it didn't coincide with Seville's big Spring Fair, which is the week prior...

Ours is June 14, 2008 - just because it's a beautiful time of year in New England!

To the dude's dismay, we're not planning on playing up the fact that it's Flag Day.  I vetoed red, white, and blue decorations....;)

Tentatively it's April 25, 2009. We chose this date because it's during the off season. If this particular venue we are looking into pans out though, the date may be switched to Sunday, May 24th so the fees will be less (instead of $15,000 food & drink minimum for Saturday, it will be $8,000) and it will be easier for our out of town guests to come (3-day weekend and all).

9/20/08 and I'm right there with Miss Blushing - we wanted the fall, so narrowed it down to September (mostly because I didn't want to wait any longer into the fall!!!).  Our venue only had the 13th and 20th open for Saturdays and since 13 isn't always the luckiest number, we went with the 20th!

June 21, 2008.  Because it was the only week that we would both have time off besides Christmas time.  He is graduating University in June  and starts his Intership July 1st.  I originally wanted March because that was the aniversary of our first date and I love spring weddings,  but the timing didn't work out.

I guess that I am like a few other brides here. We chose May 24,2008  because it was a long weekend. That would make it easier for people who were coming form out of town. We were planning a destination wedding but have since changed it back to Los Angeles.

10/05/07, one month from today! We have only been engaged since 6/24. When we looked at my travel schedule for spring of 08 we decided on this fall. Our venue is the number one spot where we wanted to have our ceremony and reception so we worked with the dates they had available.

The main reason for our wedding date was it was the only avaliable date for our venue.  (well they have a few dates open in June, but we live in the desert, no thanks!)

I also liked the date (10/11/08)!

My wedding date is  October 27, 2007

We didn't really have a specific reason for picking the date. I love fall weather and we got engaged over Christmas and didn't want to have too long of an engagment.  And I do think it is kind of cool that we are getting married on the 27th in the year 2007.

I'm June 6, 2008 but I wanted June 7, 2008 (06.07.08). We decided to go for the 6th because the 7th was booked at the location that I fell in love with and I wanted to be a June bride but the other days in June didn't seem to work either. It took some time to get used to the Friday date but now I really like it because we can have a true wedding weekend, especially since I have to be at work the following Monday because I work in a school and that day is graduation.

My wedding date is June 8, 2008. I always wanted a late spring and an early summer wedding. Early June is perfect! The most important reason that I choose 6/8/08 is because 30 years ago, my parents were married on the same date. I feel extra special since I am sharing the same wedding date with my parents.............

10/21/2007-We knew that we wanted to get married in October.  My fiance and I live in Western Massachusetts and the fall season is amazing here!  Fall is also our favorite time of year.  We chose the 21st because it was the only date left in October at our venue.

I'm squeezing in between roxanns and boavoxy. I'm a 06/07/08!  We chose the date because we wanted a late spring/early summer wedding because I will be just finished grad classes for the semester. They we consulted the Lunar calendar to see which Saturdays were "auspicious," or lucky Saturdays (per Chinese tradition, you can consult a match maker or feng shui guy to use your birthdays and find the best day to get married - we didn't go that far, and just used the general calendar to look up lucky days for marriage). Of the handful of dates, I decided on the early June date. It wasn't until later when someone mentioned it to me that the date sounded cool. :)

(sorry so long guys)

We are getting married on 09/09/09. Our original intent was to go with 08/08/08 - but all the venues were PACKED. We wanted 08/08/08 because #8 signified 'infinity & good luck'. After speaking w/ one of my coworkers who is chinese, she said 09/09/09 would be a really good date also. #9 means LONGEVITY . . .  exactly what I want for my wedding.

09/09/09 works out well for me too because we're getting married at Disney World - Disney Fairy Tale Weddings!! =)

09/09/09 is a wednesday during low season and the minimum expense is $10,000 lower than high priced seasons. . . = more money to spend on other things!

1)Wanted a holiday weekend (columbus day) as we are getting married on a Sunday for religious reasons

2)Fall-low humidity=good hair!

3) Low precipitation=the best shot at getting married outside under a tree with no rain!

4) After we tenatively picked the date we found it out it was my late grandmother's birthday....and my FI's last name a.k.a my new last name is my grandmother's last name (my mother's maiden name) if that makes any sense!

 It was meant to be!

July 22, 2007

Our venue was booked for every Saturday in June, July and August (we got married on a college campus and 'mergers' [in which both the bride and groom are alumnae] got first dibs...they got to book 13 months in advance and everyone else only got to book 12 mo.  It was crazy, though, b/c we had to call at midnight on the first day of July 2006 to reserve it!).  So we decided on a Sunday and to make it a three-day affair.  We were aiming for August, because of a conflict in DH's family, so we decided on late July since we didn't want to wait another month to book!

Fall is by far my favorite season, so I really wanted a fall wedding.  So we looked at a couple of dates in October, and decided on the 13th.  We're not superstitious so the number 13 doesn't bother us (in fact my mother always tells me that's her lucky number).  It's also one of my uncles' birthday.

Plus a fun little bonus fact... since my finacee and I are both X-File fans... yeah, I know we're geeks :), 1013 is the name of the X-Files creator's production company.  1013..."I made this."  :)

6/14/08  We picked this date because our first date was on Friday the 13th and we wanted to have our wedding or rehearsal on a Friday the 13th for luck.

Yeah, I'm aware that this date is Flag Day, but like SarahL, I vetoed the red, white and blue theme quickly!

Oh, and I wanted to share that I had the BIGGEST crush on John Cusack as a teenager! Now, I'm almost thirty years old and I still think he's soooooooooo dreeeeeeeeeeeamy! LOL

The south is too hot during July and August, so we ruled those two months out. My lease ends in July and I have to give at least  a one month notice and payment if I break it befeore it ends.

My FI wanted September, I wanted May. We finally compromised for June, though he didn't feel we would have enough planning time (10 months). I wanted 06/07/08, but I have two kids (and wedding party members) in my family graduating the Friday night before, so that ruled that date out.

Thus we settled for the next weekend...June 14th, 2008. We'll have our rehearsal on Friday the 13th.... should be interesting with our families!

08/16/08- Being number people. Both of our 'lucky numbers' happens to be 8. So, We thought it was symbolic of  the two 8's represent each of us, and the 16 represents us together.

We originally talked about early may but wanting an outdoor wedding we were both concerned with weather.  Later in May is already booked with commitments.  Plus MidSummer falls on the 21st (as well as only being 3 days after a full moon).  We just decided on a date YESTERDAY!
