October 20, 2007! We originally picked October 27th, but the church was booked already! We were lucky enough to get the previous weekend slot...the priest even said we called just in time because he had gotten a bunch of requests in and was sure that slot would be gone if we didn't book it. Crazy!
I know this is an older post, but I thought I would post anyway ;)
We also chose the date of 6/28/2008 because:
1) Both of our birthday's and most of our family birthdays are in the fall and we thought it would be nice to have something to celebrate in the early summer.
2) We get to use the 4th of July holiday for our honeymoon and will not have to use an extra vacation day.
October 4, 2008. we were going to have it on our anniversary 9/15, but that would interfere with the racing season, and we both like the fall colors, and would match perfectly with the theme of our wedding:)
We are getting married on 6/7/08. I was looking at dates and noticed the 8/8/08 and thought that would be cute, but my FI thought it was too far away, and also August is REALLY hot. And i really would rather get married in the spring anyway. So we were looking at other Saturdays and noticed 6/7/08 was on a Saturday. I thought it would be cute and easy to remember, but leave it to him to still forget already and keep saying, "when is it...6/6/08??" ugh!
Aug 23 2008, we were originally going to go with 9-6-08 but the venues were packed. The date doens't have a whole lot of significance other then it worked out for us. But reading all your stories kind of make me wish I had one.
August however will allow a lot of family to make it, becasue school will not have started so those with kids will be able to come, which is really important to us.
we're also getting married 6/28/2008! (we wanted to get married in june 2008 & it happens to be our 7 yr anniversary... didnt hurt that the church/reception was available)
I am 11/17/07. We first met in November, and we both LOVE fall. The Seventeenth just had a nice ring to it.
12.09.2007 - we had possible dates searched by fortune tellers since we are both chinese. this was the date that seems to fit my h2b's requirement of having a 12 wedding and my dad's request of not having our big day be so near the holidays. :D
We picked 10/8/06 for a few reasons. One, we wanted it to still be in 2006 (we got engaged 5/11/06). Two, it had to avoid harvest if possible (my family all farms in South Dakota). Three, we live in the East Bay - San Francisco area and got married at a winery in Livermore. Why does that matter? Any earlier and you risk 90 - 100 degree weather. Any later and it's raining. It was perfect - around 75 and sunny with beautiful blue skies!
im a 6/28/08 gal too! picked bc it was the only Sat night date in June available. We liked June bc its springy and the weather will hopefully be nice.
Our wedding date is 6/28/08 because we love the 8's being chinese. Our first choice of course was 8/8/08 but it's on a Friday.
Our date is 5/17/08, because it will be our 12th anniversary! (We started dating in high school.) My friends always laugh at us because I've had this date planned for years (even though we only got engaged this February). The last time 5/17 fell on a Saturday was 2003, but we were still in grad school and living apart. The next one was 2008, which was perfect, as we both graduated this past May, and now we're living together!
Ours is 12/1/07. I wanted Fall, but we wanted to leave some extra room to make sure our best man would definitely be home from Iraq (didn't work - he won't be back until late Dec and he was supposed to be back in Oct). It's in Florida so it will be warm. :)
8.11.07
no significance. it was a random date i picked six weeks prior and the only date my fabulous photographer was available!!!
We had to chose our dates along with my fiance's sister. She is getting married the week before us on August 2, 2008 and we are getting married on August 9, 2008 - only because it worked out well for the family that is attending both weddings. I would have preferred August 8 (8/8/8) but it just wouldn't work out. :)
Ours is 22/2/2008, which is summer here in NZ - the equivalent to August on the northern hemisphere. We were originally going to have a date in January but the school kids are on holiday and we wanted to get married on a Friday so we went for this date. The fact that my parents got married on 22nd (but of October) and my fiance's parents got married in February (but on a different date) never really occurred to us until later, and the fact that it's all the 2's should make it easy to remember for hubby!
Jillibean- we're date twins!! And I must say that John Cusack is also one of my all-time fav actors! We originally wanted 6/21/2008 because my parents 40th anniversay is 6/22/08, but it was booked at our venue, so we took the next closest available date!
Ours will be April 19, 2008. I've seen a couple date twins in the prior posts. We picked our date after doing some research - statistically speaking, it has the highest probability of there being a thunderstorm in our town. Weird, right? We both LOVE thunderstorms and have missed them since moving out of state.
Unlike some brides, we're actually hoping FOR rain! ;)
February 29, 2008!
We met on April 29th, became a couple on July 29th, and would have gotten engaged on April 29th (it was April 23rd - I found out later he tried really hard for the 29th but work meetings interfered), so it seemed fitting to continue the pattern and get married on the 29th. We also love that since it only comes every 4 years, we will still be able to continue to celebrate our July 29th anniversary during the other years.
Our wedding date is set for January 5, 2008. It was supposed to be on January 4th, which marks our 9 year anniversay. But, since our church rarely does Friday weddings, we settled for January 5th!.
June 7, 2008...cause it's just so cute to tell people they won't forget it because it's on 6 7 8.
We almost went with 6.7.08 but the reception venue wasn't available. So we're going with 8.1.08 - and hopefully the Friday date will save us a little bit of money!
well I met my sweetheart jan 28th of 2007 so it just worked to do the wedding dec 29.. 28th is a Friday and that wouldn't work the church doesn't offer weddings in the day and with working and people traveling... so instead of 1 year.. we are doing it at 11 months from our first date... well the first time we spent time together alone and he asked what I was doing that night.
I am so excited not too much longer to go!
I wanted Thanksgiving weekend of 2007 but FI took too long to pop the question so we decided to get married in February and thanks to Lent coming early this year we only had 1 choice....2/2/2008.
