My sister will be doing my makeup! She rocks at it, but she's not a professional.
Hiring a makeup artist. Because of my line of work I'm able to see the difference in those that do and those that don't and even if my budget is 1,000 it's still a heck of a lot of money to spend on one day and I better darned sure look good in those pictures...
I really think its up to you and your budget. Im getting my hair and makeup professionally done because I do not want to have to stress about anything on my wedding day. Also pro makeup always looks better in photos too. If you are able to take money from other places to get a makeup artist I would do that. If you do not have the budget, and you are confident you can do it yourself, go for it!
I'm having my hair & makeup done professionally. In fact, FI wants to go too!
I'm a makeup artist myself, but for my wedding in May, I still hired a makeup artist. It's an extremely extremely stressful day and it's really nice to be able to sit for 90 minutes or so undisturbed (relatively!) and have some "me time." I highly recommend not only hiring a makeup artist, but also getting a trial done to see how the makeup wears and if it lasts all day. think about all the money you will be spending on photography! Of course it's still a personal choice, but when we were doing our budget, I was willing to sacrifice other things and prioritize hair and makeup~ :)
Thanks for the feedback. My main concern with DIY is if I don't love how I look in the photos.
I did a bit more research and it looks like I could get a trial & wedding day makeup application at a spa for $100 ... that's definitely worth it to me. I thought it would cost more.
I think I have to hire someone because I have problem skin and scarring and stuff and I don't want the money we pay the photographer to go to waste cause my face looks a hot mess all day.
I'm doing my own, even though it's an August wedding and maybe I'll regret it if it gets really hot. However, my brother is our photographer, and I'm confident with his skills/my makeup look good in his pics, no matter what. I am getting my hair done, though.
I had someone do my makeup for the day of the wedding. I highly recommend it because you're going to be soooo busy and so stressed that you won't be able to concentrate on doing your makeup.
I think it's the one day that you should really pamper yourself. I figured that I spent enough on the wedding dress and it would be a waste not to have my makeup done to reflect such an important day.
Can you have someone give you the makeup artist as a wedding gift? That was one of the gifts my mom gave to me for my wedding.
i'm leaving the make-up to the pros! our wedding photos are forever and i'd like my make-up/ look to be the best it can be!
I have a friend who is a make up artist and she has voluneered to do my makeup for me. I feel extremely lucky! If she hadn't, I probably would have just done it myself, although I do agree with the pp that your wedding day is all about pampering yourself!
Not only am I doing my own, but I'm probably going to have to do my mom's and my sister's, too! Our wedding is at 6pm, though, so I'll have all day. Worst case scenario, they're on their own for makeup. :)
I'm definitely looking up tips online for how to make makeup last and what type of makeup is best in photos. I'm also taking pictures of each look to see which one I like the best. It's fun to practice!!!
I originally planned on having my makeup done, but at the last minute, I ended up DIYing. It worked out pretty well, actually. It was kind of relaxing to take some time by myself that day to do my makeup.
My MOH will be doing my foundation/cover up but I'll be doing the rest.
Hiring a makeup artist....she does fab work. We'll be getting airbrushed.
$250 for me plus 2 of my girls and $50 for each additional girl and the flower girl is free.
i'll be hiring a makeup artist..first off, i hardly wear makeup and don't really know how to apply most things so i think i'd benefit from a makeup artist..plus, i want to make sure i look beautiful the day of..=)
My friend who will be doing everyones hair...will also be doing our make up.......

Are you planning to have a pro do your wedding day makeup? Or will you do it yourself?
I'm considering whether I could do it myself (to save the $ of having it professionally done plus the cost of a trial)... but is this crazy? Do you think there is a real benefit to hiring a pro?
I'd say I have a moderate level of makeup applying skill, and if I decided to DIY I'd definitely do some practice runs...
