It's always about the lack of planning. Always. That's what all of my stress dreams are about. Arriving at a test without having studied. Moving to a new house, but failed to pack anything. Getting married, but none of the planning is done. There is definitely a pattern here!
Always nothing's planned. Or, someone else planned it all and shit ends up being lavender and covered in cheap looking polyester.
Nightmares, those are. Nightmares.
I haven't had one yet, so that's what I voted. But I don't think y'all are weird, lol! I know I'll have nightmares once things get closer/more stressful.
@scissors Ha, that does sound scary! Nothing more frightening than lavender polyester....
i just had a baddddd one last night!!! We showed up the day of the wedding and another bride was getting married there, my dress was BROWN and we somehow didn't know until an hour before the ceremony, and THEN, the photographer walked out and we didn't get any pics with the bridesmaids or family! LOL! I woke up thinking THANK GOD that was a dream!!
Oh @scissors, that reminds me actually, I did have a dream where all of the flowers at our wedding ended up being bright pink roses. I am NOT into pink, and it is NOT one of our wedding colors. Our flowers are supposed to be ORANGE. In the dream I was trying not to go all brideizilla (bad word for this site, I know), but come on. Bright pink does not equal orange.
Ha! I had one where none of my vendors showed up and I ended up getting married in jeans in the mall that I work at. Ick. I don't remember much of the details, but that was the basic gist.
The weirdest one I had was both those things you listed. Except I was standing at the altar and the wrong guy was coming down towards me. It was very strange.
It was also a surprise wedding, and instead of a wedding dress, I was wearing a white tube dress over a red tshirt.
Yeah. Weird.
I've had some super weird ones. I had one where I had no idea what was going on, and realized I had a blank spot for months leading up to the wedding, and was thinking I developed multiple personality disorder as I walked up the aisle. I had another one where an ex-boyfriend from high school proposed to me, and in the dream I thought it was just as weird as I would if it happened in real life. I was saying, "but. . .we haven't dated in years. . .and I'm already engaged to my live-in fiance? This doesn't make sense. . .what about your girlfriend?" Haha. . .
I had so dang many, but the one that stands out the most:
I woke up in a bed in a Savannah mansion (I don't live in Savannah, and my wedding wasn't in Savannah or a mansion) and I was in my dress, and covered in sweat. My boss comes in and was like, oh good, you're awake. I started freaking out about how I was going to miss the wedding, and she said we'd already had the wedding, i just didn't remember because I had a high fever and slept through the whole thing, so they put me to bed until I felt better, and then we could start the reception. But she was supposed to plan the wedding (not in real life!) and we didn't have a caterer or anything and someone left the cake out in the sun, and the fondant was just sliding off! I walked out in the street and was asking everybody who walked by if they could cater my wedding right then, and this guy was like, yeah, I own a restaurant, I'll be right back. He showed up with four oil drums filled with boiled shrimp and home brewed beer in kegs.
I've had a lot and I'm sure they are going to get worse. I've had a couple of the "Thing aren't planned and everything is screwed up" dreams but the one that stands out is a doosey. Somehow our wedding was moved to Pennsylvania in a pretty field with a barn, our ceremony was in the barn. People were late getting there (important people like my grandma) we had to start anyway, then in the middle of our vows people started talking loudly and yelling, so we didn't get to finish. Then we left to take pictures and let the people set up the barn for the reception. As we were walking and I realized I dropped my wedding ring in the barn. Well we walk back and I went in to get my ring, well the barn caught on fire, it was insane. My FI and I were calling out to each other trying to get my ring and get out safely. Everyone got out safe but it was still horrible.
I just had one a few days ago where FI and I didn't have our wedding rings picked out yet, and it was AFTER the wedding, and we were at some crazy jewellery store where there were TONS of people, and he was buying all of this ugly stuff (a big ugly watch and a Gun?? We don't even own guns... do Jewellery stores sell guns now?) And wouldn't pick a wedding band and I was getting so upset with him for his lack of focus.... then my ring that I wanted didn't fit.
I have crazy anxiety dreams, this is surely just the first of MANY!
FI had one the other day about $$. He said in his dream his parents decided that they weren't going to give us the money they promised us for the wedding, because when they gave the money to his sister for her wedding, the felt like they didn't have any control over where it went. So he had to submit a proposal every time he wanted anything for the wedding to them, and they would deliberate over weather or not it was worth paying for. Then, my parents got wind of this, and decided the same thing, that we'd have to submit a proposal every time we wanted anything from them as opposed to just getting the money they promised.
We're so silly!
@Laylabelle Wow, that is one hell of a rescued nightmare, shrimp and homebrew! The beginning sounds wretched of course though. I've had a lot like that too, where you don't even realize until it's too late that everything is over or in progress with nothing planned.
I recently had a nightmare that I woke up the day of the wedding only to find out that I never bought a dress! haha
The dress was the first thing I bought!
Usually it's something wrong or different. I once dreamt I was wearing the wrong dress and I didn't realize it until I started walking down the aisle. Last night I actually dreamt that FH put a different wedding band on my finger and I looked at it and went "What the heck is this?" LOL. It was a huge diamond halo ring! So not what we chose for our rings!
@littlebirds - By the time I had that dream, I thought I had seriously gone nuts. I was so over wedding nightmares, I didn't want to sleep! :P
I have been having the same wedding nightmare a couple times a week for the past 2 months or so. I keep having this dream that on the morning of my wedding all of my bridesmaids, flowers girls, etc. are all done up and look beautiful and I still don't have my hair or makeup done. But there is no time so I have to walk down the aisle and I'm still not ready. I feel so gross that I couldn't even get ready for my own wedding and I cry that this will be how I look in the pictures that I have for the rest of my life.
Then I wake up and remind myself that my MOH is a hairdresser and she would take care of me no matter what.
Mine are always "Planning isn't done". Thankfully I've only had 2 or 3 since getting engaged but I'm sure I'll have more as the wedding gets closer.

People mention having wedding-related dreams a lot, and I thought it might be nice to vent about them and have a look at what's most common. I get the impression that there are, by and large, two common types of wedding nightmares: the one in which the wedding is upon you and there's a million things left undone, and the one in which you walk down the aisle and the man there is either missing, or someone other than your FI. Personally, I've had the former type of dream about a million times already, and I'm not even in the stressed-out panic time in our planning yet. I wish they'd go away! Has anyone had any interesting twists on the wedding nightmare?
