Are you on salary?  This would add up to over 80 hours per week!!!  I think if they really mean this you should talk to them and let them know you can’t work that many hours.

I would talk to the person your immediate boss or another trusted authority figure. Maybe there is more information connected to the policy, stipulations about working from home or an hours put in requirement for the week.  I would search out more information about why the message was sent and the complete policy; you don’t want to have a rash reaction.  Once you have all the information and the back story you can decide how you want to proceed.

OH wow. This is why there are very few hourly jobs anymore and everyone is on salary. They can make you work as much as they want and not have to pay you a cent more. I would def talk to HR and try to set something up where you work from home in the evenings!

Ugh – grad school.  Are they for real?  Maybe they are sharing some expectations that everyone is going to ignore anyway?  How do the other grad students and post-docs feel about this and is this including time to do your own research?  I will be holding out hope for you that they’re just laying out some obscene expecations, like when you get assigned 2000 pages of “reading” to skim through.
