So here is my story…. if you have suggestions let me know.
My fiancé purchased my bridal set from Zales a year ago – early July. He had planned on proposing on my birthday, and the sales rep told him that she would call when it was in. She said it would take roughly 2 weeks. 4 weeks later, and still no word, he called and sure enough they had it in for the last 2 weeks but forgot to call….. understandable…mistakes happen, no big deal.
So he proposes….magical moment =)
The next day, as I was taking pictures of the set to send to my mother, I noticed that a diamond on the band was missing. Made my heart drop! We took it in and since we have the full insurance package, they agreed to replace the diamond with no charge, and call when it was ready. 4 weeks later, still no call, we stopped in and sure enough it was there. Since we just stopped in because we were already at the mall, we forgot to bring the box and I wore the ring out of the store. We walked around the mall for about an hour, and I glanced down to gaze at the beauty…and wouldn’t you know it…. The same diamond had fallen out!!! IN ONE HOUR!!!! FROM JUST WALKING AROUND!?!?
So let’s keep track…. Full insurance and diamond policy thing – JUST SENT IT IN AND GOT IT BACK – wore it for ONE HOUR, hardly even moving my hand!!! AND THE SAME DIAMOND FELL OUT???
Okay….so we take it BACK to the store…the lady gives us her “I am so sorry” speech. (Which keep in mind, I do know that she is just a sales rep, and is not the one responsible for the diamond problems…so we kept our cool) We sent it back out to be repaired. 3 weeks later- THEY ACTUALLY CALLED US! So we went in to pick the ring up. This time, not only did they replace the stone, but they slapped YELLOW gold on the diamond to hold it in……this wouldn’t be an issue, except for the fact my setting is WHITE GOLD!!!! So why on earth would they send back my ring, with yellow gold around one diamond?!? AND the band goes around both sides of my engagement ring, and it was mis-shaped! My ring wouldn’t fit inside of it!
The sales lady said that it would hold better with the yellow gold…. Are you serious?!??!!! Needless to say, we sent it back to be rhodium dipped, and to have it adjusted to fit the engagement ring, which meant that I had to send in my engagement ring with the band to be fitted….took 4 weeks. We got it back and it looks very nice….. now about the engagement ring…
About 2 months ago we noticed…the center stone IS TILTED….. so we sent that in about 2 weeks ago to be repaired….. we shall see how that goes.
Bottom line… I am so upset about all of this… it breaks my heart that I have had this ring for about a year now and have to keep sending it in. I am so fed-up! I love Zales… I really do, and I am not trying to judge them based on this experience alone….but I am disappointed that I have had one problem after another. I am not hard on my ring. I take it off when I clean, wash my hands, or working with my hands.
The last time we were in, the sales rep told us to talk to the manager about getting a replacement ring. Although I want to believe that would solve the problems… I am just not sure if I want to give up the ring that he proposed with….and get a new ring, with LESS sentimental value, for another ring that might give me headaches…. Suggestions?
