If you’re at all concerned about size fluctuations, I’d go with a corset back – more forgiveness there and you can get a more customized fit.

My dress has a zipper back.  I didn’t care either way.  But it has little tiny buttons all the way down the back of the dress (overlaying the zipper) and I love that!

Okay, so when I was dress shopping I was dead set on having a zipper because I wanted the fancy covered buttons look.   But in the end, I wish I would’ve had a corset back because I could’ve saved money in alterations because you can tighten or losen a corset, but not a zipper.  There’s more flexibility in a corset.  So my recommendation would be to get a corset dress.

@SoontobeMrsAM: I had zipper with buttons as it looked better, corset back just didn’t look right

I voted doesn’t matter because while the built in sizing flexibility of corsets is great, I’m sorta over the corset dresses. I’m also over exposed zippers but you didn’t ask that ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a zipper, no buttons. Buttons are super hard to do and undo, corset can loosen throughout the night, and everyone I knew had one or the other so I wanted something different ๐Ÿ™‚ I had a large bow on the back of my dress…

I just love the look of corset backs personally and love how they can be adjusted. I found corsets really defined my waist much more than zippered backs.

I prefer the look of the zipper backs over the corsets. Depends on what dress though because some dresses have beautiful corsets and others don’t.

Zipper.  I really dislike the look of corset lacing.  I know it can do great things for someone’s shape, but I find it too much like lingerie.

I love corset backs. I purchased my dress Sunday and it was corset. You can make them look so good on your body! Very Slimming in my opinion.

I love the look of corsets, and it’s also handy if you gain or lose a few pounds!

I love how a corset can give you a better figure but I prefer the look of a zipper with buttons. My dress has a zipper with buttons

It didn’t really matter to me, but I ended up with a zipper.

My dress has a zipper because it has buttons all the way down the dress so it would be really hard to have a corset back and I think it would take away from the uniqueness and beauty of the buttons down the entire back of the dress. ๐Ÿ™‚ Otherwise I think I would have probably gone with a corset back which like PPs said gives you a little more room! ๐Ÿ™‚
