    Hi,

Looking for some advice.  NYE Wedding - and taking a 10day ish honeymoon.  We were initially going to Bali, but it seems that Star Alliance never has any seats available on flights to Singapore-->Bali (I have checked for seats from Jan- July 2011).  So after much disappointment and tears, my travel agent suggested two places in Mexico - Zoetry vs Royal Hideaway Playacar.  We love the feel of Zoetry, but saw a post that said there is nothing to do at night after 11.  We love love love the restaurants at RHP.  We love the rooms more at Zoetry (I really want a plunge pool).  Help. I think most important is knowing that if we want to have a late night and a little fun we can do it.  Anyone with experience at one or the other?  Any other really amazing resorts we haven't considered?  (I've been at this now 6 weeks and am driving myself crazy...)

We were deciding between the Secrets Maroma & Secrets Silversands.  I liked the Maroma's decor, but it seemed like the Silversands will have more to do.  And the package was a fanastic deal!

Also - my sister has stayed at the Excellence Riveria Cancun several times and absolutely loves it.

You're in luck-I've been to both!

Zoetry is stunning. There are a lot of resorts that try to be classy, but Zoetry really nails it. Everything about the resort is amazing. But, if you're looking for nightlife, you're not going to find it there.

Royal Hideaway is also exceptionally nice. It does have more dining options than Zoetry, and the rooms are very well done.

If you're looking for something with a plunge pool, and some nightlife, I would try Excellence, El Dorado, or Secrets Silversand.

You can see photos of both Zoetry and Royal Hideaway on our Facebook page.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks for the advice - these 3 places look amazing.  It seems as if Excellence, El Dorado and Secrets all have swim up but not private pools?  I really want a private pool - any other ideas?  And I assume the RHP has the same lack of nightlife issue?  Sorry for splitting hairs here, but after my multiple disappointments I am trying to find the elusive perfect honeymoon.

We honeymooned @ Zoetry. It is really beautiful with amazing service, food, and amenities. No, there's no nightlife, but you can hire a car or call a cab and go into Cancun if you really want to dance or experience a vibrant nightlife. We talked to a lot of people at the resort who did this (but consider booking cars or call cabs either online or through your travel agent... the resort's transportation rates are high, and you can find a much better deal elsewhere).

As far as the plunge pool, I really liked the idea of one too, but after seeing them in person, I'm glad we didn't get one.  They add a lot to the price of the room @ Zoetry, they're not private at all, and the water is only a few feet deep. We walked by many of the rooms with them, and we were glad we hadn't splurged. I could imagine a jacuzzi being really nice, but those aren't available @ Zoetry.

    Hope that helps!
