Hi Bees, just wondering if any of you have taken Zofran for major morning sickness? My doctor prescribed it to me yesterday. I don’t see any scary side effects on Dr. Google. Just wanted to know what your personal experiences were with taking it?

I took it throughout my entire pregnancy (multiple times/day in the first trimester, slowely weaned to 1/3 pill each morning throughout the remainder).
It was a GODSEND. It made all the difference in the world in my ability to function throughout my pregnancy. It allowed me to function at work without throwing up once (still nauseous in the 1st trimester, but never got sick, and the nausea eventually went away too). I mostly took it later in pregnancy as a precausion against my anxiety-induced nausea that I have even when not pregnant. Taking a small dose each morning kept my anxiety in check.
I had no side effects and a perfectly happy, healthy 9 month old.

PakiBee03: Zofran has been my best friend throughout my pregnancy lol. The only side effect I experienced was some mild constipation, but just make sure you’re drinking enough water.

I took it. It was a lifesaver and I have a happy healthy child. I second the lots of fiber (take a supplement if you can stomach it) and lots of water.

Thanks! It sounds like I should have called my Doc sooner!

I’ve taken Zofran during 2 pregnancies– it is definitely a nausea wonder drug, BUT when I took it 3x a day for 2w during my first pregnancy… I didn’t poop the entire time. NOTHING worked to unstop that clog. Please take Colace, prunes, whole grains, whatever along with it to keep things moving. This pregnancy I only took it when I was too sick to function (maybe 2-3x a week at most for a few weeks) and it still affected me, but not as bad. Good luck– pregnancy nausea is the worst.

Just an FYI my husband and I are in the healthcare field and there are new recommendations against zofran for use during pregnancy. That said, I took it for a little bit (before I knew about it) and had a healthy baby last April.

I tried Zofran at the beginning of my pregnancy and it did nothing to curb my nausea. I was later on prescribed diclegis which worked wonders!

mixtaperomance: diclegis worked wonders for me too!! And is supposed to be safer than zofran I think

A doctor gave me Zofran in the hospital and it worked very fast. They sent me home with a prescription for Diclectin (it’s almost the same) and it was amazing.
