The college I went to did a formal dinner/dance at the local zoo. It was a beautiful location and the zoo overlooks the ocean... I'd say, if there was the space to do a reception - I think it would be super unique! GO FOR IT!

Actually, I was at a wedding reception at the St. Louis zoo about 2 years ago! They had it at the Lakeside cafe. I loved it and thought it was very unique!
I went to a reception at a zoo in college, it was in MN, and it was really beautiful. There was a dolphin pool that shed good lighting.
We considered the Houston Zoo, but didn't really like the set-ups available. We wanted something big enough for a DJ, dance floor, but intimate enough for a sit down dinner and toasts. Scout out where exactly they will let you set-up and try to imagine your wedding there
sorry, i would not want to have a reception at a place that smells like poo.
I can recall attending one of the best weddings I've been to at San Diego's Wild Animal Park. It was a gorgeous location and very very unique. I haven't attended a wedding since that has been up to par in terms of location, food, and ambiance.
I went to a reception at the Phoenix Zoo in May. It was lovely ... and did not smell like poo, like another poster said!

I'm down to the last few venue "contenders," and I wanted your help on one: the St. Louis zoo. It's hard to find too many zoo receptions, so I thought I'd turn to the best detectives out there--you guys!
