I'm starting this after the wedding...they just started offering it free after work on Wednesdays!
@ cannotwait... FREE?! Girl, I need to get on where you work!!! LOL Free is my magic word.
we all sit our desk for way too many hours a week...I think they just do it for morale and preventative health care, lol
I've done Zumba a few times -- it was FUN -- I can't say anything about weight loss because I gave up on it after just three classes because I have ZERO coordination. I was the worst Zumba participant ever, I swear! But it was a lot of fun. I strongly suggest bringing a friend so that you can be terrible with someone else -- it's hard to pick up on but if you stick it out for a few classes I'm sure you'd get addicted -- especially if you're a bit more coordinated then I am.
Have FUN!
I've been doing Zumba at my gym every week, and recently my FI started joining in on the fun! We aren't the most coordinated couple on Earth, that's for sure, but we do have a good time and it gets your heart pumping.
I just started Zumba today, it was really fun, even though I am terrible dancer! I have been trying to switch up my exercise between the elliptical, treadmill, strength training & exercise classes (right now, the classes I am doing are Zumba & Spinning).
I tried Zumba last night for the first time. It was definitely a work out! I don't consider myself an uncoordinated person, and I grew up taking dance classes so I have a sense of rhythm. However, I felt like a total klutz in this class!!!! Luckily, the class wasn't full of dance pros so I didn't feel too bad about it; I couldn't help laugh at times how out of sync I was. I think I'll try it a few more times and see how it feels (and see how my foot feels--I know some of the moves would definitely not be approved of by my podiatrist!)
I'm going to a Zumba class tonight and I can't wait!! It's with a different instructor and she is so fun and I feel like she has such a good time doing it that it's ahrd to not have a good time with her. I am also the most uncoordinated person in the class, but I dont care because I am sweating like crazy the whole time so I know I'm getting in a good work out!!
I bought the Zumba dvd's about 2 weeks ago! I've done them a couple of times and they were super fun! I lost my motivation to work out though...haha. But I def plan on getting back into a workout routine with Zumba. I love dancing and this is probably one of the funnest dance workouts I've found.
Zumba is the best workout that ever existed!! I have an amazing class that I go to and I feel so good after class is over. For those looking to check it out, he has a small excerpt of the class and some pictures, but It's nothing compared to the real thing. He incoporates Hip Hop/African and Latin music in the workout, and some Pop. My favorite is Calle Ocho! Anyway, If you have not done so already get yourself to a class near you, and If you're in the Hudson Valley Region in NY....here is the website...and for everyone curious about the class....
I love Zumba! I've gone to about 3 classes and was hooked after the first class! I grew up dancing so it was a little easier for me to catch on, but it is definitely a work out and great as this is the closest I can get to dancing right now. I'm thinking of getting my certification to teach. There are a few people I know who have lost weight in just the past few weeks from taking it. Keep at it!
I just started doing Zumba about 2 months ago when I could't bear another bad spinning class. My gym has had Zumba for well over a year. I did an intro class and hated it - I felt ridiculous. But, after a couple <span style="font-style: italic;">really bad spinning classes in a row it was time to give it another try.
I was SO BAD, but actually got a workout. I still felt ridiculous the first couple weeks but then started having fun. Now two months later I STILL can't do a samba step but I'm loving the class. Our Tuesday instructor ROCKS and we sweat so much. Thursday's instructor is 'ok', so I think the instructor makes a huge difference.
One fun thing is our instructors provide belly dance hip scarves with the coins. You put them on and suddenly you're shakin those hips a lot more! And I like that some of my jiggle is concealed. =)

Anybody familiar with Zumba workouts or have any experiences to share? A local group did a demonstration at a health fair this weekend, and I think I'm hooked. Just wondering if anyone had seen weight loss results from this? I'm also thinking it might improve my rhythm for the reception boogying....
