I think your fiancee is right, watching that show too often will drive anyone crazy.

Either way – I say stick with your gut. I’m assuming you’ve tried on multiple dresses and chose the one you did for a reason. It’s a very beautiful dress that has a lot of detail. You know first hand how it looks on you and (hopefully) fell in love with it before you purchase it.

I would always trust first hand experience over something hyped up on a TV show.

Isn’t that second dress Priscilla of Boston? Are you sure you can get it since they are going out of business?

Ok, now I am going on two premises here. 1) Beach wedding 2) Melissa Sweet at their clearance prices.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the dress you have, I could see the Melissa Sweet dress fitting better with a beach wedding, BUT you haven’t tried on the MS dress yet and you don’t know if it will even look good on you (Like you could look bad in anything – look at you go gal) or if YOU will like it on you.  I say if you can even find the MS dress, which is iffy, go and try it on before you make any decisions, and if it is cheap enough then why not wear both.  I just read that the MS dresses were going super cheap so with that it might make it reasonable to go with both the dresses that you love.

    Best of luck.

I think your dress looks AMAZING on you and you should stick with it! Don’t watch the show until after your wedding if you have to. Lol. I agree that the other dress is more “beachy” but wouldn’t you rather be more “you?” 🙂

You fell in love with your dress when you tried it on, and I have to say it’s beautiful and I don’t think it can be topped. Is the second dress more beachy?!  Yes.  But, don’t you want to feel beautiful that day, like when you tried on that dress rather than fit into a theme?

100% your dress. You look amazing in that dress. Its so much more special and beautiful than the SYTTD one anyways.

I hope you stick to the first one, you look amazing in it!  The second dress might be more “beachy” but it also kind of reminds me of a maternity dress.

That’s an old episode too, you might not even be able to get that dress anymore. Stick with what you have is my opinion, it looks beautiful on you

Definitely stay because your dress is so gorgeous! And you look amazing in it. I totally agree with your Fiance that you should stop watching shows like SYTTC. There’s always going to be something that might be better than what you already have, and so you just shouldn’t look at wedding dresses in general.

@kim14410: Kim, remember when I told you in a comment on one of your prior posts that I could really relate to the way that you think? Well, now that I’ve read this post, I REALLY think so! LOL. I had never even seen SYTTD until AFTER I was married.  And, since I’ve been married, I’ve seen countless episodes. Nearly every time I watch that show, I wonder, “What IF I had known about this show?  What IF I had watched it and had seen all of these dresses that I never even knew existed when I bought my gown?  What if I had tried on other shapes (fit-and-flare) or gowns that had more ornate skirts (the skirt of my gown was plain, silk taffeta, since the bodice and bustlines had the ornate elements)? What IF I had tried on a Pnina Tornai structured corset that would have made me look SOOO much better than the dress I selected? I, too, drive myself crazy sometimes while watching that show!

Remember all of the reasons I gave you previously as to why the dress you chose is so perfect for you? Those reasons are still true when I compare your gown to the one you liked from today. I can honestly tell you that there is NOTHING about this dress from the SYTTD episode that I like more than your gown.  The neckline and bust are not prettier.  The Melissa Sweet has an empire waist, which could not possibly flatter your tiny little figure as well as the Mon Cheri does. There is no bling on the Melissa Sweet gown, and, with the floral elements on the front, it would not be easy to add it. And you are absolutely a BLING girl! The chiffon (?) skirt of the Melissa Sweet may look lovely billowing on the beach, but so will the lace-adorned organza (?) layer of your gown, which is much more beautiful!

I am not trying to say negative things about the Melissa Sweet dress, which is very pretty. However, for YOU, for all of the reasons I stated before, and all of the reasons I just outlined in the above comment, there is no comparison between these two gowns!

Wow, I think your dress is wayyyy prettier than the SYTTD one!  It’s just got a bit extra to it.
