LittleRedBug :  Wow those are gorgeous!

I am a woodworker/furniture builder

Here’s my favorite piece I’ve made.  This was my final project in school.

And here’s the carving for a set of chairs i am currently working on.

rendezvous89 :  thank you πŸ˜€ I always do my backgrounds first and then block in my shapes and add details … the best thing about painting is you don’t need to know how to draw really πŸ™‚

i definitely recommend checking out The Art Sherpa on YouTube and Facebook.  She’s fun and you can learn a lot from her πŸ€—

allston :  This is amazing!!! I’ve always said that if I could pick any hobby/skill, it would be woodworking. How did you get into it/choose it???

DeniseSecunda :  Thanks!

I always liked tinkering with things, and had built stuff with my parents as a kid.  I took an upholstery class at an adult education school here in town and I liked that.  I upholstered a few chairs for myself and friends, and then was like hmmm….I bet making chairs would be even better.

So I took a couple of short term woodworking classes at a school in Boston.  Then I enrolled in a 3 month furniture building course, and I actually just graduated from a two year program.

  • hafh2016 is there something in particular that interests you in woodworking? Like carving, turning bowls?  I sort of went whole hog with it, but there are a lot of smaller ways to get started.

I’m not at home to take pictures of my newer stuff but these are 2 of my older quilling projects I have pictures of. I think it’s amazing to make pictures out of little strips of paper and it’s super relaxing.

eeniebeans :  These are incredibly beautiful! You are so talented! I have an obsession with quilling and I love looking at projects but I’ve never actually tried it myself. I have zero artistic ability.

allston :  Amazing! I’m in awe of your skill and dedication. That chair (first one) looks like it belongs in a castle in the French Apls.

eeniebeans :  Those are so super cool! I’ve always wanted to try tht and have wondered how do you glue it to the background paper? Gently? Lol! I follow a crazy quiller girl on Instagram.

You all are SOOOOO talented.  It actually made me tear up.  Fabulous.  I have zero artist ability in the media arts.  I was a dancer but me with a paint brush, sketch pad, sewing machine, etc. = disaster.  And i’ve tried.  πŸ™

I was really big into acrylic portraits. Unfortunately I haven’t had the time to paint in like 4 years.

These are all amazing! I picked up a new hobby about 6 months ago working with wool. Specifically wet felting 2d pictures. There’s a learning curve but I’m getting there. I’ve never been able to draw so this is my replacement for that. I love it.

allston :  I really love antique furnite and all the detailing on them. I’d also love to be able to restore antique pieces. There’s something SO special about them!
