@tenleyalison:  I’ll bite. We’re having a hockey themed wedding ceremony and a formal reception. Still have A LOT to do!!! Most of the big stuff is out of the way though. What are you doing? Where are you at with wedding planning?

Howdy! I’m Sept 29! We are having a rustic-chic wedding. Our colors are apple green and chocolate brown. I just said this on another post, but I will say it again here: Our big list items left to do include: officiant, dj, florist, and videographer. We kinda already know who the officiant and videographer are going to be, but we need to sort out the details. Our biggest issue is making sure our officiant and dj are bilingual (English and Spanish) as my family speaks English and my fiancé’s family speaks Spanish.

hi i’m also doing a RUSTIC wedding…LOL I had a typo in my user name 🙁

We’re in our late 30s not our first marriage, so we’re doing something alot simpler. If left up to him we’d go to the courthouse…ugh! Right now I’m trying to find a good spot to do the ceremony/reception. I’m making all my own stuff for a couple of reasons…I’m picky and can never find exactly what im looking for, and yes…it’s cheaper. 🙂

I’m made mock up invitations yesterday…lots of fun…lots to do….

we have a good amount of things togehter, since we’ve been engaged since december 2010!

i’m in the process of ordering our invites- our invitiation girl on etsy is reallllly busy, so it’s taking a lot longer than i thought. but they should be coming in on july 2nd and we will do the addressing/assembling the weekend of july 13-14! were also getting programs, menus, table #s and escort cards from her- all of which we’ll start working on over the summer

weve decided to do 5oz jars of apple and pumpkin butter as favors, so i’m in the process of looking for stickers for those

we have to check back in with our dj and florist

we have our official planning meeting with the venue july 28th- to go over the final schedule, etc.

we have to get in contact with the organist and cantor from our church

and we’re about 60% finished with our bridal party and parent gifts.

we’re having cocktail hour outside on a covered patio so i need to figure out some simple, inexpensive decorations to throw out there. i dont want to pay for any more flowers!

our maui honeymoon is booked and now we’re working on our itinerary (thank god my fiance is really into planning that stuff! i don’t have the patience for it)

im a sept 29th as well! i feel  confident in where im at in our planning, all the big things are done, were getting married at my Fiance parents cottage so the tent is rented, the food is booked, the photgrapher and dj as well. Witing on paper work for a close friend to be our officiant, my cousin is playing guitar for our ceremony so he has my list already. I made all my flowers(paper) and in the process of making my invites now(almost done), i made my own wine but were yet to shop to stock the bar, all the stuff for our decorations for the tent are bought and the centerpieces as well just need to put it together. my future in laws are working on our backdrop this week and we will finish it this weekend, we also need to buy lights for the yard. I need my Maid/Matron of Honor to buy a dress and then we will decide on what the groom and his BM will wear(cause i have a gross obsession with matching)  all the jars are bought for our jam favors, my Mother-In-Law just has to make it now, were doing a quilt guest book and i think i maybe have 30 squares left to put together. We got engaged in march so im feeling pretty good to have all this done already!

@tenleyalison:  Hi – we’re also 29 Sept, and we’re also in Wisconsin!

We are meeting with the caterer today … and both sets of parents are also meeting one another for the first time. Fiance and I are both originally from out-of-state, in different directions, so bringing them to Wisconsin was the best option for “meeting in the middle.” (The wedding will also be here, since it means both sides will have to share the travel burden – and Madison is a much more exciting place to visit than either of our hometowns. Plus it means we have a little more freedom in planning. Both sets of parents have been great about being helpful and not interfering or hijacking anything, but it still is just a little extra reassurance that the event is on neutral territory and “our turf” rather than one side’s stomping ground.)

Anyhow, things are coming together nicely. We’re having a church wedding, for which everything is pretty much lined up, and a reception that’s going to be nice but not overly elaborate. There are details yet to figure out, but we have an officiant, musicians, a florist, a caterer, a DJ, etc. We still need to select a menu and find out if our venue will allow a homemade cake baked by one of my friends. If not, then I guess we’ll still need to wrangle a cake somehow, but it’s not an overwhelming priority for us. All the important (to us, anyway) stuff is either done or well underway, and in the hands of people we trust to do a nice job with it. Mostly, we’re letting the professionals do their thing and trying not to get in their way too much! Wink There are just a few big items yet to take care of: next on the list is invitations, and then when we get a little closer in, programs.

when are you ladies sending out your invites and when is your RSVP date?

i’m thinking we’ll send them around July 16-17, with a September 1st RSVP date.

does that sound right?

@September29:  I am not 100% sure when I will be sending out my invites, but I’m thinking around the 2nd week in July. I think my RSVP date will be August 20th just because a couple of my vendors need final head counts later that week. However, your RSVP date sounds just fine!

I’m a 2-night bride, but it’s the 28th and 29th….and we have a million things left to do.

The only things we’ve done so far are:

-find and pay for venue

-find both officiants (we’re having two ceremonies)

-find and pay deposit for food on second night

– find dress and pay for it

-bridesmaids dresses are done (I let them pick their own)

-order printed invitations

-find calligrapher

– cake is decided and paid for

-favors for both nights are basically done

-DJ, photograher, and videographer are found and deposits are paid

-chargers, tablecloths, and napkins are bought

-cutesy elephant statues are bought

-mandap is rented and paid for..and it’s beautiful!

things still to do:

-give song lists to dj, decide music for ceremony

-have invitations clligraphed and mailed

-meet with photographer/videographer for details/photos lists

-decide on dessert for first night

-find sarees for first night, sherwani suit for my Fiance for first night; help friends find sarees for first night, and jewelry (this won’t be done until July)

– decide on caterer for first night (sigh.  If this were just up to me, it would have been done long ago, but my FI’s parents are dragging their heels on this one.  We’re paying for it, but they want a say in who does it, so….we have to wait on them)

-buy veil, have hair trial, have makeup trial

-buy cutesy striped paper straws for drinks

-make final decisions on flowers w/ florist

-have brother make modern arch to stand under for second night

– a million DIY projects: centerpieces for second night, recycled wine bottles for water bottles, table numbers and seating chart

-buy cake topper customized for our different ethnicities

I’m sure thre are more things to do, I just can’t think of them all!  =)

Hi ladies! 4 months now!!

We’re having a rustic country wedding. Burlap, mason jars, wildflowers- all that. The main thing we want is for the wedding to just feel like a giant party and for our guests to have a wonderful time (good food, lots of booze, and a live band!)

We have secured our church and reception location, finished all our marriage prep (catholic wedding), my dress and alterations are done, band is secured, finalized the menu last night.

Still have a long list to do though…my mom and aunt are making my bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dresses, still need to figure out what my Fiance and our Groomsmen are wearing, and way too many DIY projects.

Our invite design should be done by next week- so I’m hoping to get them printed and put together ASAP- I want to send them out by July 14- I think we have our RSVP date for Aug. 25.
