- Wedding: August 2011
So in total I had 5 venues I wanted to check out. Here’s my review of the first location. It’s Tortilla Flats in Mission Viejo, CA. It’s located on the Mission Viejo lake and gives a wonderful background of the lake if you get married on their patio. They will provide food and decorations for you ceremony and even be the main contact for the music/dj, cake, and flowers if you use them as your wedding venue. They provide reasonable prices and will even have a backup location inside of their restaurant in case the weather goes awire. With a wedding of 50-75 people they only require a $500 deposit to reserve your date and will workout payment plans individually for you. As well as let the vendors bill them directly so you only have to make payment to one source. There’s plenty of parking in the area. Those are the positive attributes of this location.
However, the negative is that only about 15-20 of your guest may watch your wedding ceremony while the rest must stand around on stairs and the terrace. The place is pretty dirty and it’s been hell on wheels just trying to get a hold of the banquet coordinator. It looks old and although it’s in a nice area I really don’t think they do much to maintain it. They have displays in the inside that they do nothing with and just look run down. I’d hate for my guest to see that while walking through to my ceremony and reception.
Either way it’s not for me but it may work out for others in the southern California area who’d like to have a nice wedding on a low budget.
