If you get a domain name do you have to pay a hosting fee as well?

For anyone looking for a good host, Dreamhost.com has been hugely reliable for me for like 7 years now.

I want to use iWeb but I don’t have MobileMe, so I can make my own website but I can’t figure out how to put it on my domain :/

I’m not overly tech savvy but have been putting together our wedding website on The Knot since it’s free… if I buy a domain name will it work for that??

Can you all explain?  I don’t understand all of that and creating a webpage.  Or is this just to create a special name for the link?  How do you link a site to that link?  I’m wanting to do a cool webpage, but all freebie sites are pretty lame out there.
