- Wedding: August 2013 - backyard in the woods
Your Age/Partner’s Age: Me- 34, DH- 40 for a few more weeks
How long you have been together/married: 3 years married and 8 years together
How long you have been TTC: We hit the 3 year mark in July:(
Known Issues/TTC History:
Me: DOR, poor IVF responder, severe endometriosis (requiring 3 surgeries and 7 months of ‘fake menopuase’ to remove), and hypothyroidism.
DH: non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA), sertoli cell only syndrome (SCOS) (he doesn’t make any sperm and only very rare germ cells). Meds (Armidrex and Clomid) raised his testosterone but no sperm, biopsy = no sperm, intensive mTESE surgery = no sperm.
My first IVF was cancelled after 16 days due to poor response and 1 of the 2 follicles I made that cycle becoming dominant. Second cycle we changed protocol and though it took 19 days to trigger we were able to retrieve 7 mature eggs from the 8 follicles I grew. (We had to freeze them because we didn’t get any sperm at mTESE.) We decided to move on to donor sperm and picked a donor but our hybrid frozen egg & donor sperm/fresh embryo transfer was cancelled because my thyroid went funky.
Your TTC plans for the next few months: (fertility meds, supplements, OPKs, BBT charting, NTNP, etc) My thyroid went down to within optimal range after a month on Synthroid. (Very glad I pushed my RE for a higher dose than she originally prescribed!) I’m finally getting to do my hybrid IVF cycle. I’m currently on Lupron and Estrace (along with my standard prenatal and baby asprin), and will start Prometrium July 6th if my lining and bloods are good. If so, we’ll thaw my eggs and our donor sperm and grow some embryos!!! Hopefully they grow okay and we’re able to have a transfer on the 12th.
Just for fun: Now that it’s summer it’s been pretty hot where I live and I’m not a fan. I’m more of a springtime weather type of gal. What’s your favorite season and why? As I said above, I love spring- everything is growing again and it’s so pretty, the weather is perfect. Also, I love bunnies lol. Easter is in the spring so that makes me see bunnies advertised everywhere, like an explosion of cuteness.
You guys don’t know how incredibly excting this is to FINALLY have a real chance. The past 3 years when we tried we had 0 chance and didn’t even know it because we didn’t know my husband didn’t make sperm. We found that out in April last year, he started meds for 6 months, then I had my IVF testing in October/November (found out about my DOR), then we had to take December off because the lab closed for the holidays, then I started IVF the first week of January. With my first cycle cancelled and my crazy body needing to stim for twice as long as average, then the failed mTESE, then the thyroid issues, it’s freaking July this week ladies! 15 months since we found out about the azoospermia and 9 months since I started the IVF process, 7 months since I started my first IVF and we’re just now getting to grow embryos and actually do a damn transfer (hopefully)!! Ahhh! Trying so hard to keep my hopes grounded and failing miserably.
