I’m not so stressed about the wedding, but about moving to Canada right after the wedding and looking for a new job! We do have a packed schedule though.
- 10/2 is my last day at work.
- 10/5 My in-laws and one of my BFFs arrive
- 10/6 Fiance arrives and we have our welcome party that evening
- 10/7 We leave early early in the morning (2AM!) for Orlando to drop my cat off for her flight to Canada, then we head to Disney World for our bachelor/bachelorette party. Orlando is about 3 hours from my hometown.
- 10/8 Drive back to my hometown for our Rehearsal/Rehearsal Dinner and Nail appointments for me.
- 10/9 is the big day!
- 10/10 We fly out to Tokyo for our honeymoon
- 10/17 We go from Tokyo to Canada and start processing my immigration paperwork
The only thing I’m really worried about right now is my dress. It’s still at the alterations shop, but they promised me it would be done this week.
This past week has been bad, but I think that just means the week of the wedding will go smoothly! Fingers crossed!
The alterations shop was supposed to call me last week to set up a time for a second fitting, but I didn’t hear from them. Then, my elderly dog got very sick on Friday last week and I had to rush her to the emergency vet so I completely forgot to call them. I try to be reasonable, so when they said they would call me last week I decided to wait to the end of the week before I started harrassing them, but unfortunately I got distracted by my dog. She was more important, I think.
My bridal shower was the next day. We got the results back from the dog’s blood test that morning confirming that the dog was dying. My bridal shower was great, but I forgot one of the cards on the table at the restaurant and it happened to be the card that had the cash my Maid/Matron of Honor was giving me to cover her hair and make up ($150!!).
I tried to call the restaurant as soon as I realized (30 minutes after we left) but nobody ‘turned in’ my card/envelope. The manager had the waiters go through the trash to look for the envelope, but it still was lost. I figure someone just got a really good tip because of my stupid mistake. They might need it more than me. I was mad at myself for a few hours then I told myself there was no point beating myself up for it. What was done was done, and the only person that anger would hurt was me. I had more important things to worry about and in a few weeks this would seem very minor.
Sunday we had a party for the dog. We took family pictures with her and made impressions of her pawprints to keep. Monday we took her to the vet to be put to sleep. My brother and my Mom were extremely sad. My Mom feels like she’s losing her dog and her daughter just a few weeks apart. 🙁 I tell her I’m not lost, and I will visit her as often as possible. I don’t think that makes it better, only time can do that.
When I got home from the vet on Monday the carrier for my cat arrived from amazon. The top of it was cracked all the way down one side. I got in contact with amazon’s customer service team and asked to return it and have a new one delivered ASAP. The new one is being delivered today, but I completely forgot to put the old one outside for UPS to pick up. UGH. I’ll have to call UPS to schedule a new return pick up time.
So yeah, this week has been bad. But I am pushing through it in the knowledge that next week will be so much better! 🙂 My Uncle – one of my favorite people int he world – gets here on Saturday with my cousin Jared. I am so excited to have them here. I might ask my cousin to be our ‘MC’ and announce us as a bride and groom, haha.
