(Sorry this is so long! Read the last paragraph for the actual proposal :D)
I’m so happy to say that we are FINALLY engaged!!
So our weekend went something like this: all week he seemed really excited and anxious about the weekend, so I had a slight feeling this might be it. Friday came and he said he had some “errands” to run to which I was not invited to run along with. This was unusual since we always usually tag along with each other. Same story happened Saturday. He just kept saying “everything has to be perfect”. My FIANCE (!!!) is not the planner type at all; I’m the planner in our relationship. So, for him to have this whole thing set up was a big hint that a proposal might be in the works. I kept trying not to get myself too excited just in case he wanted to treat me extra special for Valentine’s Day. I didn’t want to be upset at all if he planned this whole thing with no ring. For him to have planned anything is just so sweet.
Okay, now on to the day of: He still hadn’t told me where we were going, just that it was some place I’d wanted to go to and I wouldn’t be disappointed. I asked him if we were supposed to dress up or if it was casual wear, his clue was “it’s at the same level of Fleming’s”. So, since I guessed a proposal might happen, I had both of us dress super fancy and I went all out for my makeup – think smokey eyes and false lashes. On the drive over there he said “I’m so nervous! I feel like I’m taking you on a first date or something”. He’s so sweet. Once we were down the street from the restaurant he was too excited for us to get there and he was like, “there it is! Do you see it?? On that corner!” It was Eddie V’s (YUM!!).
Oh I forgot to mention when we were leaving the house he insisted on bringing his jacket (in Texas) – raised eyebrow anyone??
So when we get to the restaurant we decide to do valet parking. As we are walking inside I noticed he didn’t have his jacket, so I casually asked, “don’t you need your jacket?” (Smooth, right ladies?? 😉 😉 who needs a jacket for inside of a restaurant? Lol) and he had this look of panic come over, so I (again, casually) said, “just ask if someone can go grab it from the car”. That’s what he did.
We had dinner, it was sooo good! He told me to “save room for dessert.” After they came and picked up our plates, he wanted to hold hands across the table and he started telling me all of these sweet things and how he thinks the universe brought us together. How we met so many years ago and some how still stayed connected through all of those years apart. Soon after, the restaurant manager came over with this beautiful candle-lit pink rose cake, which read “Will you marry me?” (Cue water works!!!) He scooted out from his side of the booth, came over to mine, got down on one knee and said “I want to spend the rest of my life with you honey. Do you want to spend the rest of your life with me?” (I said yes) He then said, “Will you marry me?” (Again, I said yes!!!)
Okay, now what you have been waiting for, ring pics!!!!
Here’s the cake:
