On New Year’s Eve it was our 1000th day together. We were also celebrating our Christmas that night too. We had celebrated Christmas at our families beforehand, but this night was just for us.
I was still waiting for one of his Christmas gifts to come in the mail, so in the late afternoon I went down to check. Sadly, no luck. When I get back upstairs my phone was ringing but I missed the call. It was the conceirge calling and they only call if I have a parcel delivered. So I race downstairs and say ‘You just called me?’ and he responded ‘Yep! This is for you, you’re one lucky girl!’ and it’s this big beautiful flower arrangement. I take it upstairs and see a card in the bouquet and the envelope has ‘Happy 1000th Day!’. I tear off the plastic to get the card and inside is a poem he had written named: 1000 days of Jen. It was funny and sweet and totally made me cry.
In the evening we made dinner and then it was presents time! We took turns opening gifts and the first gift was fun typical gifts. The next gift was a ‘book’ called 1000 days of Jen: The prequel. It contained exceprts of our emails before we started dating with amusing commentary.
The next gift was a pretty frame with pictures from Days 944 – 960, our vacation this past November. He had taken the pictures from my computer without me knowing so I was so surprised by this!
Next in the series of ‘1000 days of Jen’ were 5 funny comics about 5 of our random days together. Also, he then emailed me a video (text to cartoon) of Day 13, our official first date. It was unbelievable. I couldn’t believe he had made a video and it was so hilarious that I had tears streaming down my face.
Finally, I opened my last gift and it’s an insulated picnic basket for when we go hiking etc. And on the box it had a note that said: Things for the next 25,000 Days. My heart just melted.
He tells me to open the box so I pull out the picnic basket and the pockets are numbered. So I open the first pocket and there are cat toys with a note saying: For the cats. The next pocket had a princess crown with a note saying: So you never forget that you are a princess. The last pocket I open very slowly, wondering if this could be it!! and look in, and see a piece of paper. I take it out, and it says: And every princess deserves a prince. And it had a picture of him on it. Then he pulls the ring out of his pocket and asks me to marry him!! I said yes and started crying all over again =)
Sorry this was so long! But I had to share. It was so perfect and us. We are both so incredibly happy to be getting married and it was amazing to start the new year engaged. And… the ring!
