- Wedding: October 2014
Just as other bees predicted, my Fiance (!!!) proposed today before our weekend in DC. We went to the downtown pedestrian mall here in Charlottesville with the intent of having a gelatto date in the glorious weather. The gelatto place was unexpected closed, however, so we just wandered around a bit. I kept making noises about going to look at books, but Fiance wanted to walk a bit more, and finally, as we turned to go up to our favourite tea house, he pulled a little note out of his pocket with my name on it in Cyrillic. Inside, it asked me to be his companion so that together we could go see the stars (we’re big Doctor Who/sci fi nerds), and “I love you” in Russian. When I looked up, he had dropped down onto one knee and asked me in Russian to marry him. What else could I say but “da!” He had the ring we picked out together — a cluster ring of diamonds set on a knife-edge platinum band. It’s so beautiful, and it sparkles like a star. What better for two space nerds?
We went to the tea house and had a lucious gluten-free cake to celebrate, and then went to get Turkish food for dinner. When I came home, there were black magic calla lilies waiting — albeit in a garlic jar, since he had been hiding them. 🙂 It has been an amazing evening.
But wait, there’s ring pictures!
