How many days a week would you be working? If it were only 2-3 shifts per week, I’d be ok with that schedule.

I’ve had jobs where I’ve had to work shiftwork- but it’s either involved an early morning start/ later part of the evening free (say, 7am-7pm) or an 8 hour afternoon shift (3 to 11) which gave me a good chunk of the day free. Yours seems smack dab in the middle of things so you don’t get to sleep in but you’re not freed up in the evening either. Frankly this sounds like a shift that would cause burn out after awhile. Might be do-able on a part time basis though.

Curious- if you’re a PRN (I’m assuming Practical Registered Nurse? the terminology is a little different where I am) wouldn’t they want you there earlier in the day? I can’t say the 10pm til 10am shift would be appealing either.

If it’s only 3 days a week, I’d do it, especially if I could lump the days together so I had longer stretches off. No way would I do this 4-5+ days a week, you would have no life outside of work.

Yes. I recently accepted a schedule change for 9am – 8pm 4 days a week. Still get my weekends off plus a weekday. Going to school so 3 days off a week is better for me. Nights are HARD so I would say this shouldnt be worse

Yeah I think I’d be ok with that shift, at least for a little while if it was only 3 times per week, and if I didn’t have to always work weekends. I don’t think I’d want that shift long term.

Ideally I would prefer early morning to late evening but I would do it rather than night shift. My mom worked nights for years when we were kids and as an adult I feel so sorry for her, long term night shifts are really bad for your health.

beegirl1989 :  for 3 days a week that doesn’t sound too bad!

I used to work three days and the odd weekend day 8am-8pm so that I didn’t have to work nights. I don’t know how intense or stressful your work is, but by the third day I was absolutely exhausted. All you do is work eat and sleep, but the four days off was absolutely worth it for me! I now work 9-5 and I would definitely go back to three long days if I could.

beegirl1989 :  I know, I was stating that for me personally 10am to 10pm isn’t ideal but I would pick that shift pattern over night shift.
