Wow, feels incredible to say it, but I’m finally engaged!
My Fiance and I live in Colorado and love to hike. We summited Longs Peak last year and decided to do Quandary Peak, another 14er, this year. He choose out 8/8 as our hike date back in April and I was immediately suspicious because 8 is his lucky/favorite number. I knew he had bought the ring in June or July because I ran into a statement in the mail. I decided not to tell him I knew and let him plan everything the way he wanted.
We stayed at his parent’s house Tuesday night and left to hike Quandary on Wednesday morning. It was an amazing hike. At the summit he found us a spot away from everyone and we sat and just caught our breath. He came over and sat down next to me and told me he wanted to show me something. He pulled out the ring and told me he had loved me since he met me and we had climbed so many mountains and had so many adventures already. He said he couldn’t wait to climb more mountains and would I do him the honor of marrying him. I was crying already and immediately said yes and kissed him.
He had also arranged for me to have the following day off of work (I knew but acted surprised) so we could celebrate. We went shopping in town and went back up to his parent’s house for the evening. The next day he took me out to breakfast in Denver, we visited Red Rocks and went to see the Dark Knight.
It was the most perfect proposal and I couldn’t have imagined it any other way!
