SO proposed last night! The timeline he gave me was before Christmas and he made good on it. I am unbelievably happy! I didn’t mention it here, but I lost my grandmother 1 week after Thanksgiving, so it’s been a tough time for us…and I wasn’t exactly feeling the Christmas spirit. While I’m still sad that she won’t be present to see me get married and I am thankful for the time we had together and I know she is celebrating with me in spirit. 🙂
I won’t bore you with the mushy details…but SO took me to a spot that we used to go to when we first starting dating (almost 3 years ago). We’d sit and talk for hours…just getting to know each other better. I cracked up when I realized that’s where we were going. He told me all the things he loves about me and “us”, thanked me for being his partner and better half, told me his future plans…and then dropped down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Yes, I did the ugly cry…HARD…and then got distracted by the sparkly…not sure if I even officially said “yes”. haha
Afterwards, we headed to a new sushi restaurant and celebrated with too many martinis (me) and a moderate amount of saki (him) and sprained our faces from smiling so much. I am on cloud 9!
I wanted to thank the ladies on the waiting board…very helpful and supportive group we have here. Special note to my 30+ waiting bees that are SUPER frustrated: Have faith that things will happen for you. I am 35, SO is 43 and we still took our time to get to this point…despite pressure/rushing from various friends and family members. I am glad we took the time to build our relationship (and that period of time is different for every couple!) and I can say the waiting was worth it. He said he is thankful that he waited to find the right woman (this will be the first marriage for both of us) and thanked me for being patient with him. Ahhhh…worth the wait!
Here’s a crappy cell phone pic for the ring porn folks!
