ivvy :  Rose gold has copper in it.  I’m not positive, but I would guess 18k rose gold is just as durable as 14k yellow gold. Tiffany and Co. uses 14k yellow gold and 18k in all of it’s rose gold jewelry.

ivvy :  I have heard this. It’s because the copper oxidizes over time. Not quite sure how long it takes though. It sucks that there are no before and after pics of the change. πŸ˜• In that sense, yellow gold is the only gold where what you see is what you get forever.

ivvy :  Honestly, price was a big factor in the 14k vs 18k decision for me and my fiance! Haha both look really lovely, and I do think both are pretty durable. I remember reading once that RG is actually the most durable type of gold, because copper is really strong! So if you’re considering durability, I feel like you can probably go either way with 14 or 18 and it won’t be a huge difference πŸ™‚

Here is my ring! My setting is kinda different, so the gold is very prominent… but definitely still no color effect on my stone!

ivvy :  I’m not sure. Oxidized copper can be cleaned, so I’d assume there’s a way to clean/shine rose gold as well. 🀷🏾‍♀️

ivvy : Absolutely love the 6 prong. I think 4 makes it look to square and I just feel better with 6. To me it feels more secure. And it’s a 2ct equivalent stone, so you still see plenty of the stone.

My engagement ring is yellow gold and I love it.  I think rose looks slightly better with your skin tone so that’s my vote!!!

I was deciding between the same two golds! And your description of your coloring and preference for earth tones also applies to me as well!! I am pale but have a warm undertone.  I ultimately chose 18K rose gold and highly recommend it!!! I just received my ring a week ago!  My vote is rose gold!! Although, both look great on you ❀️
