Any bees have recommendations for Regency era or 19th century Romanticism? The author can be contemporary or modern, as long as the writing is good. Extra points for a German or French author.
I’m a huge fan of Regency, I’ve read all of Jane Austen. Favorite modern author of Regency romances is Georgette Hyer.
Also love the romanticism/”dark romanticism” (Scott/Shelley/Poe/Hawthorne/Melville) but haven’t read any of the famous Germans yet and I really should because they defined the movement. I am working my way through the Bronte sisters.
I’m not too big of a fan of the transcendentalists (Thoreau/Emerson/Whitman, ew) …but I do like Louisa May Alcott, so … yeah.
(Name dropping to give you a sense of how limited I am with the reading, mostly American, with a few Brits dropped in.)
