Need some help Bees. We are thinking of a quick (hopefully) cheap anniversary trip from July 29-Aug 1 to celebrate our 1 year. We would love an all-inclusive but giving Vegas a thought as well. We just want to relax on a beach/by the pool for a few days. I was quoted $1,600 total for 3 nights/4 days at Occidental Grand Xcaret in Mexico. However, Vegas would be much cheaper (probably $1000 total).
1. whether the cost of food/drinks in Vegas would creep up close to what the Mexico trip would be?
2. The weather: Vegas will be HOTTTT but not sure of the chance of rain in Mexico.
What would you do? Thanks!

Mexico is my vote! I’ve been to both.. and I prefer Mexico. Vegas is awesome, but so fast paced.. and the food/drinks definitely add up quickly.. we were there for 4 days & spent $2000 on just food and drinks & gambling.. that doesn’t include airfair & hotel. Mexico also can be more romantic, those resorts have such nice restaurants.. and lounging by the pool all day while getting as many drinks as you want..

I’d vote Mexico. Vegas is fun, but not as special I think?
Is it a couples resort? I hear they’re super special because it’s all couples, no kids and all inclusive of food.

My vote goes to Vegas because that’s where Darling Husband and I are going for our 1st anniversary in August!! (So, I may be biased!) We’ve never been there before so we’re excited. We managed to get 3 nights at Treasure Island and rountrip airfare from WI for under $700 – which will leave us plenty of money for drinking/gambling/shopping/etc!!
I’ve also never been to Cancun, but I think the answer to your question depends on what kind of vacation you’d like to have. I get the vibe that Cancun would be more relaxing, etc., whereas Vegas has more “activities,” I guess.

Thanks girls! I’m not much of a gambler so would spend most of my time in Vegas by the pool. However, I just saw that the weather in July-August will be over 100 degrees. Yikes!

@Mrs. Cooper: both sound like fun. i enjoy the all inclusives so it keeps me on budget. vegas will be much hotter b/c it’s land-locked. mexico will be hot but when you at the beach there is always a nice breeze off the water.
