Oh goodness! When it rains, it poors!

I’m sure this rough patch is temporary and things will start to look up. Perhaps you can re-plan the anniversary trip !

Do you think you got the lice from the little girls?

@AbbyDabbyDoodleBug: Thats some good karma coming your way! That was so sweet of you to take the girls in, regardless- so their parents could go on the trip!

How did hubby break his wrist?

Maybe this is a stupid question but, why can’t you go away for the weekend? And why didn’t your sister do the lice shampoo and treatment before leaving? You should be able to do the treatment on your head and on your nieces and it should kill most to all at once.

I think you should just postpone your weekend for a couple weeks…by then you’ll both feel better and make sure you get to a place with a JACUZZI!!!!!!!!!!!

If you washed your hair with the lice shampoo, it would kill the lice.  I doubt they would have gotten much of a hold on you in the few days since you would have caught them.  Wash it and go…enjoy your night away as much as you can!  🙂

@GDub: shampoo may not kill the eggs or nits, so you can still have lice weeks after treatment. Public Health authorities however encouraged that children be allowed to return to school after the initial treatment.

Lice do not “jump” to someone else. There must be direct head to head contact or sharing of combs, brushes , hats etc.

Yeah lice don’t jump…fleas DO jump, though, and from personal experience with family-in-law I can tell you that those bugs are stupid, persistent little things that take forever to be rid of. Be sure that it’s lice and not fleas!!

My daughters brought home lice last year and it took me 4 treatments and 2 weeks to get them out of my hair. I also had to throw out any pillows, wash everything, bag up stuffed animals for 2 weeks. It isn’t a sure fix with one treatment.

I’d say for sure postpone your mini vaca for a while as much as it sucks.
