I thought for those who are interested would like to hear how this weekend went…
I pretty much was crying most of Friday afternoon/night. I told myself I was going to let myself to have a pity party on Friday, but I would suck it up on Saturday and Sunday!
We did the shampoo and so far, no lice. Darling Husband searched through my hair for an hour for eggs or leftover lice… poor guy. I’m seriously so happy that I married him. This weekend was definitely a “better/worse” moment.
So on Saturday, my Mom was nice enough to go pick up our anniversary cake for us at the bakery (she lives closer to it) so we wouldn’t have to get up early to go get it. We hung out at the house and watched TV and Darling Husband worked on my computer. Basically it was a normal weekend day because I couldn’t go and do anything with my sprained ankle. Which is getting better, hooray! It’s all sorts of bruised, but the swelling has gone down tremendously and I’m able to walk on it better.
We ended up taking our dog to my parent’s house Saturday afternoon and dropping her off to let her play in their pool while we made use of a coupon we had to go to a restaurant overlooking the lake. This restaurant has lots of decks and stairs on a cliff, so I told them about my ankle and requested a table that wasn’t too difficult to get to. Well, as luck woiuld have it, we got this awesome table in “The Crow’s Nest” which is a little platform above the other tables with only 2 tables up there, so it was like we were by ourselves! The host said it was his favorite table in the whole restaurant. And we had a lovely early dinner overlooking the lake with the sailboats and view of the hill country.
Then we went back to my parent’s house to watch our favorite college football team play (we don’t have cable at our house) and they won! So that’s always a good thing. 🙂
We woke up on Sunday morning and cooked breakfast together (DH made me sit on a stool with wheels and wheeled me around the kitchen so I could help cook breakfast, haha).
Then we decided to watch our homemade wedding videos and watched our ceremony video, which was really sweet to experience it all over again. We might make that a yearly tradition!
Then Darling Husband went to the store to get steak and shrimp and we grilled out and had our surf n’ turf dinner! We also ate some of our frozen cake (it was pretty much as delicious as on our wedding day!) and our anniversary cake.
I wished Darling Husband had gotten me a card or some flowers; I mentioned it to him that I was a little dissapointed that he didn’t do that, but he ended up doing this little speech telling me how much he loves me and is looking forward to all the years to come and he wouldn’t trade this first year of marriage for anything else. So he got some brownie points there. 🙂
All in all, what @2ndtime said was so right! And it sounds so cliche’ but nothing matters except being with the ones you love! 🙂
