@betyl:  I think that’s called a trillion cut and I don’t think it should be problematic with a sapphire because the stone is .not soft Personally, I’m very rough on my hands so I would be concerned with how thin the band is. But, that ring is SUPER gorgeous. I love the rose gold, the color of the sapphire is dreamy and I would purchase in a heartbeat!!

I have a sapphire in a white gold head on a yellow gold band. Best of both worlds 🙂

My sapphire is set in rose gold and I love it! It is lighter than this one, but still the way that the bit of orange in the rose gold sets off the blue is absolutely gorgeous!

@betyl:  mine is a reset of my original ering. The original ring had a pear stone in a peg head. That is why the “floating” square basket used for the sapphire might look a litte odd from the side.

Are you using a local jeweler? That is what I’d do if at all possible. They can order the stone and put it in different settings so you can really see what you prefer.

@betyl:  That particular trillion is called a “curved” trillion where the sides bulge out just a bit. There are also “straight” trillions and even a true triange cut.

Here is a site if you are interested. https://www.diamondcuts.com/

Gold preference is up to you. There is no right and wrong. Go with what you love.

Personally for me… it depends on the cut of the sapphire and the setting of the stones for me to be able to pick which gold tone I prefer… I have an oval blue sapphire with diamonds in white gold, which I preferred with that setting, however…. with something like the picture you are showing I think the rose gold looks amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
