I need some help. Our first anniversary is in about a month. It’s been a rocky first year (relationship wise and overall life wise) and right now money is tight. Our plan was to go back to our honeymoon location, but we recently bought a house, and H got laid off a few weeks later, so that’s just not possible. I know that the first year anniversary gift is paper. Do people actually go by that? I can’t seem to find anything good to get him that goes along with the paper theme. H isn’t really a reader, so books won’t be good. The bands he likes arent’ touring at the moment, so I can’t even use the ticket stubs as the paper gift, we have a ton of pictures of us that are framed so I can’t even do that. I honestly just don’t know what to get. Does anyone have any ideas? What did you get your husband for your first anniversary? Did it go along with the paper theme?

You could write him a letter. You could tell him what this first year has been like for you, how you feel about him, and stuff like that.
It fits the paper theme, and it tends to mean a lot to people when they receive letters like that.

AlmostHisWife: i guess our anniversary gift is paper – we are traveling to Ireland and Italy for our 1 year (so the plane tickets are paper lol)
Since you are on a budget, maybe a concert to see someone he likes? Or get him a nice card and make him a really fancy dinner followed by “dessert” lol
I don’t know where you live, but maybe look up free or inexpensive things to do in your city

AlmostHisWife: you could place hearts on a map for the cities you lived, met, live, married etc and frame that

@Julies1949 – that is super cute!! We have done a lot of traveling since we have been together. He would probably really like that. I wonder if I can find that on Etsy or somewhere.
@Daizy914 – I tried to find concert tickets to a band he likes, but no one is touring around us. He’s a huge concert person too, so that would’ve been perfect.
@Rhopalocera – a letter would be a nice heartfelt gift also.

AlmostHisWife: You can make that yourself SO easily. Find a USA map, buy the heart and small dot stickers at a craft or dollar store.

They used to sell scratch off maps at Paper Source. I’m not sure if they still have them, but this also might be a cute idea if you like traveling.

maybe you could check out a cool exhibit at a museum?
we didn’t mean to follow the paper theme, it just worked out that way, kind of. we went to sea world (free tickets because my husband was in the military at the time), disneyland (we had annual passes), and to the movies. not all in the same day of course, lol, we spread the festivities out over a weekend.
