Hey ladies. My good friend’s daughter’s first birthday is coming up. I’m not sure what to get her as a gift because their apartment is pretty small and I don’t want to just get a toy to clutter it up. Her grandmother’s spoil her rotten with clothes too so I’m not sure about that either. Any advice?

Boyfriend or Best Friend and I just got a little 2-year-old Play-doh and a little bowling set. We got a 1yo a football, one of those blow-up things that they can knock around and it pops right back up and a little dress.
Could you maybe get her the bathtub crayons? The can draw all over the bathtub, but it washes right off. We got that for a 2yo last year.

I’d recommend something classic they can keep for a long time. A sock monkey or maybe a raggedy ann doll. Or start a book collection. Bathtub crayons and those little pellets that color the water are also fun for little ones.

I second @Andrea on the book collection. What were osme of your favorites as a kid? You could pass those down. (Maybe not the actual book because my mom better keep those, but you could get new ones.)

I totally agree on the book suggestion! My sister is always requesting books, not toys, for the kids! If you want to get her a little toy, I like the suggestion of getting bath crayons along with a book or two.

I always try to get kids books… for 1-year olds – the Eric Carle series is always cute (of The Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar fame)… and The Little Engine That Could – is always a winner with little boys!
If you wanted to spend some major cash – you could set up a photo shoot for the family!
