I must agree with lanibug. I love cap sleeves; my dress has them as well. However I feel that those in particular take away from the beauty of your dress. I think that tulle cap sleeves or off the shoulder sleeves could look lovely.

I think it is nicer with the sleeves – more distinctive, more balanced – but somehow those particular straps don’t quite do it for me. The option a pp posted might be really nice to try. I would play around with a different sleeve mockups before choosing one.
I also am betting people will vote more for strapless, because it has by far been the most common style of wedding dress for quite a while, and I kind of feel like people have been programmed to automatically think it looks better, buuuut I think they’re wrong. 😀

Although the cap sleeves are very pretty, I really love your gown without them. Also, don’t worry about being 50 and wearing a strapless ball gown. I was 47 and wore a strapless A line/ball gown. You look fantastic!

Here’s an idea…I also had cap sleeves but they were attached with a button/snap so I wore them during my pictures and the ceremony and then took them off for dancing. It was a perfect combination!

post pics when you do! The simpler tulle sleeve won’t compete with all the beautiful beading on the bodice and you won’t know this till you try it on, but the statement pearl necklace may work as well.

Agreed about the strapless being more popular. I did try on some different sleeves made by Justin Alexander (to match the dress) but these were my fav of the ones they had. I do like the tulle off shoulder. As a bonus, they hide the armpit fat 🙂
These will be attached with hook & eye, so completely detachable. I was thinking the oposite though. Maybe wear the sleeves during the reception when the veil is off?
Well, it is good to have choices, but I hope I don’t stiffle myself! I will make the tulle off shoulder and simpler necklace to wear. One of those combinations will be the winner.
I really love my dress but must admit I’m not a big fan of strapless in general. Nonetheless, want to look “right” for the day 🙂

I love it with the cap sleeves

I love cap sleeves. I think you look fantastic in the dress without then especially if you have the statement necklace. I do like your idea of wearing them at the reception, sounds like a fun way to change it up.

i dont like the cap sleeves. the dress without looks stunning the sleeves make it look gaudy sorry 🙁

Don’t apologize. I asked for opinions. Happy to have them all.

I lovvvvve the cap sleeves! However, I’d get a more simple veil. I think it’s overpowering the gorgeous dress and sleeves.

Even though I usually love cap sleeves, I voted no because I think you look younger and more ‘fun’ in the strapless. But in saying that, I’m going against what other people have said and wearing cap sleeves myself!

I voted yes because you already said you feel bare up top, and I felt the same way. I never regretted my unpopular decision to add cap sleeves. I also think adding the cap sleeves looks nicer in pictures, you’re not risking any of those “Is the bride naked?” pictures. Those cap sleeves are lovely, I say do it!

I’m surprised “no sleeves” is winning in the vote. I think it looks so much better with them! The dress is pretty on it’s own, but it looks more balanced with the sleeves. When I first opened the post, I thought the sleeves were original to the dress and you meant adding more fabric to them. They look like they belong there!
Plus, anything that will make you more comfortable is a win!
