We did a first look and it was really fun and special and some of the best pics of the two of us from the whole day.  Also, I had a long walk, so there’s no way I could see Dh’s face or whatever lol.

At my SIL’s wedding, it was really important for them to not see eachother and to make eachother cry.  Well, the crying part didn’t happen.  Not sure if it matters.

Any high end photographer will tell you that a first look will result in more naturally beautiful photos showcasing the emotion of the moment. I can’t understand how some people on here have criticised the first look as ‘a cash grab’ by the industry – you don’t pay extra for a first look, if anything, it can cut down the time you need your photographer. So that argument is completely null and void.

The people that are touting ‘not seeing the bride’ until she walks down the aisle romantic and ‘traditional’ are hilarious. That tradition was started because most marriages were arranged between two families, and the groom was unable to see the bride prior to the wedding incase he found her unattractive and wished to call the agreement off. Not much is romantic about that!!

Personally I think a first look is far more romantic and intimate. You get to share that moment with your partner, and express how you really feel without worrying about 100+ people staring at you. I have never heard anybody say that a first look ‘takes away’ from the experience of walking down the aisle, you’re still walking towards you future husband……

Not for me! I personally think it detracts from the moment.

Each to their own though xxx

We had a first look and it was great!!! There were a few reasons I opted for it. #1 we were having a beach wedding and I wanted a variety of light exposures, so we have very light and bright photos and we also got a lot of sunset ones as well. #2 DH is an emotional person, however I knew he would hold back bc he would be so nervous of being infront of all our guests. #3 I had many poses and shots I wanted so we got to get some out of the way initially and then did some more after our ceremony. #4 we moved out of our home state midway through our engagement so coming back for our wedding we wanted to spend time with our family at the wedding so getting photos out of the way was a good way that we could mingle more with our guests. #5 with having our evening ceremony I didn’t want to be stressed for sunlight.
