Tonight I am going to hot yoga for the first time ever.
I’ve checked out the website for the place I’m going, and know the regular tips.
Hydrate lots, don’t eat a heave meal before going, wear shorts and a tank top….
Are there any OTHER suggestions you, more experienced, hot yoga-ers have for me?
I’d really appreciate the help, I get super nervous about starting new things by myself!!

Hydrate is the best tip I can give you, and bring a towel to wipe off sweat. This is a great workout, but you will be wiped. Have fun!!!

@MrsBrightSkies: Thanks! I am super excited and super nervous. I’m scared I’m gonna pass out on my first try and be totally embarrassed! haha…

Wow- I just did this yesterday for the first time myself!!
The place I went to was very specific about the rules- a sticky mat, towel covering the mat, water to take into the room, towel to shower after, no shoes, etc.
I think the hardest part I had was trying to be 100% able to do what everyone else is doing, forgetting that they are regulars that do it 3+ times A WEEK! There were certain positions that I had to simply not attempt, while standing up or lying down was still a challenge given the temperature of the room. I found the laying down position to actually be a lot harder then the standing up, which really suprised me.
Definitely be prepared to sweat. If you can’t do the motions or the movements, still stay in the room. Bring clothes to change into or even consider showering there (if available). Don’t get too upset if you can’t do the movements 100% like the pros.

@BrideE: oh wow thanks!
I know for sure, I definitely have a problem with not being able to keep up. I guess that is something I’ll have to work on. Very interesting about having a harder time laying down than standing up, I wonder why!
It looks like they have showers, from their website, so I may just take advantage of those, even for a quick rinse.
I also saw on the website, little “bikini” type tops… are those pretty much what people wear? I was just going to wear a work out tank from Lululemon?

I went to my 1st Hot yoga class 3 months ago and I decided to stick w/ vinyasa and ashtanga. I tend to sweat in the first 5 min in a room heated to 80 so hot was just to hot. I couldn’t even concentrate. I did like how much easier it was to get in poses after 20min.
