Everyone will see you naked. Many places have just one big community dressing room. So if you plan to be modest, wear a strapless bra and full coverage panties. Some places won’t let you take pics wearing the dresses so bring something to take notes with. Go in with an open mind and try on a variety,  you’ll be surprised what you thought you’d love in a picture, then you hate it once you put it on. It work the other way around too, have some fun and try on something that you think is really not your style at all.

Bring heels! And wear a strapless bra (and maybe Spanx!)

And don’t wear lip gloss bc you may get it on the dresses as you take them on and off.

But do wear makeup and do your hair – you can make a better decision that way!

Good luck!!

I wore a strapless bra and spanx. I felt self conscious being in my undies in front of someone I don’t know but it all passes after you put on the first dress. I made appts the week I was on vacation. Much easier for the consultant to help me and less people. Weekends are crazy and they were able to focus on me. I was lucky though I wound up at a boutique that works by appts only and takes one bride at a time and that’s where I found my dress.

I would recommend trying as many on as you can and giving it a few days to really think about it. I feel like I have dress doubt because I didn’t try on a lot and I made such a quick decision because it was so overwhelming. It is a fun and wonderful day, but it is very overwhelming. I think it is better to try on a ton and when your brain is clear to think about them. Obviously, if you know it’s the one, you know it’s the one, but I thought I did and then had that doubt:(

Good luck though! And I agree with the other ladies..wear shoes similar to what you will wear on the big day and cute panties and strapless bra:)

Every wedding dress boutique I went to had private dressing rooms.  My advice would be go with an open mind and try all different styles, so that you can see what you FEEL best in. Don’t go in with a closed mind, and most of all, HAVE FUN WITH IT! This is one of the best parts!

HAVE AN OPEN MIND!!!! If you find something that speaks to you but isn’t exactly your style, TRY IT ON ANYWAY! That’s how I found my dress! 🙂

Before you go, take a look at yourself in the mirror and breathe.  Realize how amazing you are and how beautiful you are and keep that in mind.  Go in with your head held high and try on all sorts of styles.  Don’t limit yourself.  If it’s not the right fit, it’s not you, it’s the dress.  You will find the right dress for you, so don’t rush.  If you don’t find it this time, there’s always next time.  Lastly, have fun!  After all, we only get to do this once!

To echo everyone else, go in with an open mind!  I was so set in my head with exactly what I wanted that I was utterly confused when I didn’t fall in love with the dresses that met my cirteria.  Was it my body shape?  The designer?  The lighting?!  Many sleepless night ensued as well as many visits at many other salons.  In the end, I fell ridiculously in love with a dress that I never would have thought would be the one.

Also, a kind, patient, knowledgable consultant goes a long way!  It actually took me THREE visits to the same salon, with the same wonderful consultant, before I found my dress.  She helped me work out my concerns and come to the realization of what I really loved.  In other words, don’t be afraid to ask for a different consultant until you find one you want to work with.
