I had mine at 8 weeks (actually, 7 weeks, 6 days), but my doctor likes to see patients much earlier than other OB/GYNs in the area.

I am having mine next week at 8 weeks.  The OB nurse (have not met the ob yet, just had my first appt. today with a nurse) thinks I will be 9 weeks- but I have a longer cycle so I KNOW she is mistaken ๐Ÿ™‚

My first one was at 5w5d.  It was so early all we could see was the gestational sac and yolk sac.  We had another one at 7w5d for dating.

My first prenatal appointment wasn’t until 11 weeks.  They weren’t planning to do an u/s at that time, however they couldn’t find the heartbeat with the doppler so they did one really quickly just to check to see that there was indeed a baby in there ๐Ÿ™‚

Our first ‘official’ u/s was the NT (nuchal translucency) scan to assess risk for Trisomies 18 & 21 and that was around 13ish weeks for me (they’re usually done between 11 or 12 & 14 weeks).

@Radiochicky:  In Canada I believe if you’re not a high risk pregnancy your first scan is only at  18-20 weeks unless you do the IPS testing which has an ultrasound between 11-13 weeks or if you’re unsure about when you might have conceived, they may do a dating ultrasound. Such a bummer especially hearing about all these US bees with their lovely early scans :(. We are going to do a 3D scan at some point just to see the baby an extra time.

My first US for dating will be when I am 6wks 5days. Seems a little earlier than some of you, hope they can see enough!

I had my first appointment yesterday with the OB nurse, where I got a TON of baby/pregnancy pamphlets, a pelvic exam/pap, breast exam, and urinalysis. I have my first visit with the OB at 9wks.

Our first u/s was at 12 weeks, it was for the first trimester screen. The next u/s is scheduled for 18 weeks.

@Radiochicky:  Have you been referred to an OB yet? I was, it took 4 weeks to hear from their office only to be rejected because I’m considered high risk. Hopefully you can get in to see one sooner ๐Ÿ™‚

@Radiochicky:  I’m in Australia and I had my first one last Friday when I was 7w1d. It was an optional scan for dating and my Dr said that I didn’t need it as I was confident with my dates and almost ended up spot on with them. However, I just really wanted to see my little baby, so I decided to go ๐Ÿ™‚

@Radiochicky:  I totally understand. It’s an exciting but also scary time too. Did your family doctor suggest an NT Scan? That usually happens at 12-13 weeks. If so, maybe opt for that. It’ll be a chance to see your little one on an ultrasound and put those worries to rest. You might get to do that sooner than getting in to see an OB.

@MrsSawyer:  That is pretty much how it seems to be in Canada.

I actually got to go for one last week at 14 weeks and 2 days. I’m not really sure why my doctor sent me as originally he said not until 18-20 weeks, but I wasn’t going to argue with seeing the baby early.

I’ve only seen my family doctor so far and not an OB. My family doctor is going to refer me to an OB, so that makes life easier.

I had a dating scan at around nine weeks, I was pretty sure of my dates but I was a late ovulater and we opted out of the NT scan at 12-13 weeks.
