Hi Bees! My 1st wedding anniversary and my DH’s 30th birthday is a long ways away, but I’m already planning. The two events are within a few days of each other, so I wanted to make that time extra special for him. He always plans amazingly romantic dates for me and spoils me day to day. So, I really wanted to reciprocate in a big way just to show him how much I love him and appreciate him. Can I use you ladies as a sounding board?
DH’s 30th birthday is in the middle of the week on 10/10 (sigh). Wedding anniversary is 10/19. Okay, here’s what I have so far:
1. Hiring a photographer on 10/13 for an evening picnic date (5:00pm) & 1st year anniversary photo shoot. I would have wine, fruit, cheeses and all of the setup pre-decorated onsite (this will be the same spot as where we were married). And we would be all dressed up. We would also present each other with our rings again, with newly engraved messages since we haven’t done that yet.
2. A luxury limo would arrive to the picnic site right after the photo shoot and drive us to our city’s skywheel around dusk (DH has been wanting to do this). (7:30pm arrival time) The entire experience only lasts 8-15 minutes. During that time, I was going to give him his birthday present – a really nice watch maybe also engraved, and just tell him how much I appreciate him / enjoy the experience with him.
3. After we leave the skywheel, the limo would then take us to our state’s top-rated steak restaurant that Darling Husband has been dying to go to (8:00pm arrival). I would have a private room reserved, decorated, and waiting with all of his closest friends and family there to surprise him, and celebrate. We would all have dinner, drinks, and cake together. Guest list between 25-30 people.
I figure this way, the anniversary photo shoot is the “cover” for the surprise birthday party so he won’t be overly suspicious about why he has to get dressed up.
4. 10/19 – On our actual wedding anniversary, we’ll be traveling to board an 8-day Caribbean cruise. On the arrival night, I’ll be requesting for the cruise line to decorate our cabin with rose petals, champagne, etc so that’s the first thing he’ll see when he enters the room. And I’ll also make reservations at one of their swanky specialty eateries that I think Darling Husband will enjoy, again on the first night.
And that’s all I got – the rest of the gift is the cruise! lol
Is there anything I should add? Subtract? I really want to knock his socks off, so any and all suggestions / tips are welcome.
