I wear a size 5 & my garnet is 2.25 carats (8mm) & the halo adds more as well. I like the size for my fingers (which are also pretty short…I’m under 5′.) Though I did just order a RHR that has a 10mm garnet (CZ) with a halo & 156 pave CZ in it. Hehe…we’ll see how that looks.

Keep in mind carat size for different stones (diamonds and gemstones) varies because each has a different density. Going by physical dimensions might be a better bet!

Gorgeous!!! I’m sure it won’t look too large on your hand.

@MrsDeco:  The same way a diamond might “face up” smaller but be the same carat size, because it’s weight. If it’s really shallow (not really deep on the bottom), then it’ll look larger, make sense? That’s why some of the fancy shapes of diamonds look smaller than a round of the same carat. This site doesn’t demonstrate an emerald shape (like yours is) but it shows you have it can vary. http://www.jewelryimpressions.com/gemstone-size-versus-carat-weight-comparison-chart.html A 6mm diamond is about .77 carat, but for a sapphire of the same size, it would be over 1 carat! Very deceiving!

@MrsDeco:  Nope, not crazy! Think of it like you would… every day things. Fruits cost different amounts per pound, but obviously a pear and an apple will weigh differently. Make sense? ๐Ÿ™‚ So you might get a pear that’s really tiny (half a pound and 5 inches long) for 5 dollars a pound ($2.50– I’m just making these numbers up, obviously pears aren’t 5 dollars a pound), but an apple that’s 1 pound is maybe only 3 inches long and costs 2 dollars a pound! Same way with stones ๐Ÿ™‚ I just realize that was a crazy analogy. It is way too late….

Thank you!!!!! When I get my RHR I’ll post it. Yay for ring porn. Smile

Love108 is right. In diamond terms I think my stone is 2.02 carats. I tend to go By millimeters & dimensions when looking at rings online to buy so I can draw them out to scale (at least the length & width, not depth) & tape them on my finger to get a general idea.

And I agree, her fruit analogy is really good.

@MrsDeco:  HAHAH, no! But that would be totally awesome. I just like researching and learning more about things… anything really… sort of a nerd. I like being overly informed. Thanks though!
