Bees I’m so sad & frantically trying to come up with a Plan B for my wedding in 2 days!
I’m supposed to be having a small (18 guest) wedding in Central Park on Friday evening with dinner at a nice restaurant afterwards. This whole planning process has been a breeze as I purposely wanted to have a small wedding that didn’t require much planning. We got a permit for a location in central park called Cop Cot which is a beautiful wooden structure a brief walk from the street and were excited to share our vows there. The roof of the structure is not a barrier from the elements, but we have no problem with a little rain. The ceremony will be brief (~15 minutes), we bought those cute little clear umbrellas to be safe should we need them, and our guests are all of the “a little rain never killed anyone” mindset. (All immediate family members).
WELLLLLL, cue the weather forecast. Not just rain. Oh, no. Heavy rain. Wind. Thunderstorms. I’ve seen the words “severe” and “significant” thrown around there, too. Everyone keeps telling me to be optimistic, weather forecasts are always wrong… but I’m freaking out. At this point I think our original plan is out the window and now I am frantically trying to come up with a Plan B. There is another (covered) location in Central Park called Bethesda Terrace which might work but unfortunately we do not have a permit… so we run the risk of being interrupted by park officers, or there may already be a wedding ceremony going on! The hotel we are staying at is offering us a little conference room-y space to hold the ceremony in (to the tune of $1500) which is insane in my opinion. (Especailly considering our plan A option only cost us the $25 permit fee). I’m literally kicking myself for not just getting a permit for Bethesda Terrace as a backup plan. As dumb as this sounds, I thought that I would have karma on my side for this wedding. 2 years ago I hade a 125+ person wedding planned and paid for that had to be cancelled 10 days before…. I figured the wedding Gods would be smiling on me this time. Guess not.
Anyway, I’d love some positive vibes and thoughts from the bees. And any NYC bees who know of a last minute covered ceremony location, hook a sister up!
