Ok, here is my delima!!!!!
I am having a fall/rustic wedding and i thought that i would do a finger print tree(already paid to enlarge to 16 X 20) for everyone to sign.
Then i have a really nice wish book to put the cards in after people write their best wishes, advice, favorite memories of the couple, ect and i would have them hang these on the tree’s that are going to be on the same table with the fingerprint tree. (Going with a tree theme for my guest book table) I was also going to use these in a different way at the shower’s-like for marital advice,future predictions of the couple,ect.
Well, my fiance doesn’t think i should have both at the wedding because he doesnt think people will want to make a thumb print, sign thier name, and then write best wishes on a separate card and hang it from the tree. He thinks it will take too much time and nobody will do it.
I really love the idea of incorporating both…
Do ya’ll think he is right or should i just go with it and see what happens?
Any suggestions? 🙂

You could have the wish cards on the tables so people don’t block up the guest book table, and they have more time to think about what they want to say.
Ask someone to gather them up a few times during the evening.

@julies1949: Thanks, that’s a good idea 🙂

Yep – totally agree, wishbook cards at the table! We had 3 guestbooks.. the traditional table at the entrance with a thumbprint tree and a woodslice for signatures, then on the table we had well-wishing cards for guests to leave us a note or draw us something fun. =D

Honestly, i think it’s overkill. I mean think about it . . . most people are going to bring you a card a write a nice note in that, then you want them to write you another note on a wish card, then you want them to sign a fingerprint tree. If I was a guest, I would be a little bit like “Geez! How many times do they want my signature?” 🙂 Gotta agree with your Fiance on this one.

I have a traditional guest book and I also have a mat where people sign it. I just wanted the mat but my mom insisted on the book too. I think your idea sounds fine.

Good luck. Most people didn’t even bother to sign the guest book, so I think it’s overkill too.
