I’ll be starting a part-time job that’s great for my career goals. It has the potential to increase hours. I MAY have another offer for another part-time job that’s interesting to me.
However, I am torn – I do want to increase my hours (for financial reasons) but if I take the 2nd part-time job, THEN have the option to increase hours in the 1st job…I’ll feel conflicted on what to do.
I know for the 2nd job, it’s important to maintain consistent hours since I’d be counseling clients…it would not be great to drop everything and leave. Another consideration is that the 2nd job may pay MORE per hour than the 1st job.

I guess it depends. How many hours at each? Personally, if you need the money, I’d take them both as long as you can handle however many hours it is. You don’t know for sure that job 1 will increase the hours. If they do, and you like that job more/its better, then just quit job 2. At this point though, you don’t know for sure that they will increase the hours of if you will even like it.

Personaly if you can juggle both, take both. I work 4 part time jobs right now, and it is quite difficult to juggle them all, but I LOVE working “part time” over a full time job. The hours essentially add up to about 45-50 hours a week, but I have been doing it for about 2.5 years now, and I cannot go back to working 9 to 5 in an office, Monday to Friday. I love the flexibility and the fact that if I hate one of my jobs, I typically only have to go 2-3 times a week. It also gives me the security knowing if I lose one (like I did last November), I have that cushion.
