I just graduated in May and am currently working as an Assistant manager of an apartment complex, and also a Compliance Assistant for the corporation that owns the apartment complex I manage. It is not at all what I went to school for (Theatre Major) but this was my plan. This job pays pretty well, and I’m trying to save up so I can move to a large city and pursue my acting career. That way, I don’t have to stress out about trying to maintain a minimum wage job while auditioning and paying the bills in a larger city. I’ll have a bit of a cushion to help with expenses until I can get a fairly steady flow of work.

I’m 24 and work in college admissions. I got my BA in Communication Studies (and French, but I’m clearly not using that part!), and had a full time intership in admissions while doing my undergrad. I’m positive that I wouldn’t have gotten the job I have now without my internship experience.

It’s not my dream job, but it is a stepping stone in the right direction. I’m thinking about grad school for the fall and getting an MA or MEd for School Counseling. I’ve been able to do a lot of networking with school counselors the past 2 years.

I do have a totally different dream job, but that requires some property investment (and maybe business classes) so it’ll take quite a few years of savings before I could even think about getting there!

I’m 23 and a veterinary technician at a busy, 5 doctor general practice hospital. I do everything from checking in wellness appointments, monitoring anesthesia in surgery, dental cleanings, blood draws, placing IV catheters, and any treatments needed on hospitalized animals. I love it!

@bestbuddies: I am also an application analyst at a hospital and LOVE my job! Just like you, I am the youngest one in the department. I have a bachelor’s in business and I am working on my MBA with a concentration in information security so hopefully that will position me for management in the future. I worked at a hospital all through college and knew that I wanted to stay in that industry once I graduated.

I’m 23 and I work for an ad agency as a graphic designer/video editor- I make print ads, web ads, and tv commercials 🙂 I also work for hotels in Boston as an audio visual specialist. I got a degree in Video Broadcast and am in the process of getting a degree in Graphic Design. Originally I wanted to get into film, decided it was too hard/expensive to break into and got an awesome job for this ad agency while I was in college still.

I am working part time for both positions, but will be full-time by next Jan for the ad agency, had to turn down a full-time position and remain part-time with the audio visual specialist job in order to pursue my ad job.

I work in the billing department of a large telecom company.  I majored in English and art, so it’s nothing like what I expected I’d be doing, but my minor was in Japanese, and I use my language skills frequently because it’s a Japanese company, so it’s not all bad.  I’m mostly just glad to have found a job after getting back to the States last year.

I’d eventually like to make a living either writing or making pottery, but I know that’s not going to happen.

I just graduated this spring with my Masters in Early Childhood Education, but alas no job. THe teaching market was extremely tough where I live and only about half of my classmates were hired. I will be subbing and waitressing all I can until jobs open up for the next school year. I am not happy about this, but what can I do about it at this point?

I’m a lawyer.  I love writing, and I get to do that regularly at my firm, so I’m very happy here.

As @heather25: mentioned, late nights come with the territory (especially in New York!), but I am okay with that.
