Planning a November – 2012 destination wedding in Old San Juan. I’m wondering if anyone can comment on the weather in early November?  Is it too risky?

We’re also still looking for a ceremony musician and would love recommendations!

Thanks! πŸ™‚

Thanks! We are going through WedAffair for most of our ceremony details (at El Morro.)  Our reception dinner will be at Hotel El Convento.  Almost wondering if we should do recorded music during the ceremony, but I don’t want it to feel hokey.

Still deciding on a photographer as well. πŸ™‚

Would also love any recommendations for inexpensive easy activities/day trips for our guests.

Getting married @ the St. Regis in March and looking for entertainment for guests at the reception.  Dancers, performers, fire eaters, snake ladies or something like that. Any idea of where to even start looking???

Hi!

I’m getting married in Isabela, PR on February 18, 2012.

I have almost everything done, but liek some recommendations.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an officiant in that area? Right now I have  a justice of the peace, but I’d like to know of other options.

And how about a DJ in the area?

Thanks!

I’m trying to plan a wedding ceremony in PR in May 2012.  Does anyone have any recommendations on where to have it?  I do have an El Morro permit reserved but from all the reviews I’ve read everyone says it’s very windy.  Also I’m afraid if it rains we will be out of luck.  So now I’m trying to figure out where to have it.  I’ve been looking at different resorts/hotels, does anyone have any recommendations?  I was looking at La Concha as I always stay at Marriotts but I’m not sure this is exactly what I want.  Also for our stay there, any recommendations on where we should stay?  We want to find a nice beach and do some tours, any recommendations would greatly help.  Thanks Rachael

@rach45: Hi!  Well Rachel, May is the beginning of the rain season, We even have ‘May showers’ instead of April showers.

And yet, it would be such a beautiful place to get married at! If youw ant to risk it, the rains might just be showers instead of flooding rains… And I dont’ think the wind is bad at all. Just make sure you have the right hairdo! πŸ™‚

Otherwise, if you want a PR wedding, and you want it between May and November, I recommend the south of PR. The south of PR is very dry- we even have a desertic forest in that area. I’ve been in PR, in the north, in the niddle of torrential rains, and am always abel to escape them by going south. The moment you pass the central mountain range you’re free of rain.

If you  get married in the south of PR, and want that colonial Spanish feel, check out the town of Ponce – it is an old colonial city, very beautiful. Check out the  Serralles castle, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serrall%C3%A9s_Castle  There’s an airport in that city so, depending on where your guests live, they could fly directly to Ponce instead of San Juan.

The beaches in the south are gorgeous too. Copamarina resort in Guanica is very nice.

Have fun!

@rach45:  My fiance lives in Puerto Rico and I live in Washington State, so I’ve been planning from a distance. I’ve found a few places that we really liked! Hotel El Convento is gorgeous! We’ve also looked at El San Juan Resort and Casino! Hope that helps!

@rach45:  Hi there!  Did you know that there’s actually a little chapel inside the fort?  I wish I could remember what it was called. We considered getting married there and it’s covered so rain would not have been a problem.  Ultimately, we decided on doing everything at El Convento.  We ended up having more people than we initially planned on so it was more convenient to have everything in one place. But I remember looking at the little chapel at El Morro.  It was so charming.  Just too small.  I think it may have been Santa Barbara chapel? (Maybe) Local brides may know more.
