@MrsRebaHairston:  hi ms Reba! Don’t worry, it’s normal to feel verg frustrated about ppl not getting back to you. The same thing has happened to me with one of the hotels fod our room block Coral Princess. I tried to block with olive boutique, but they wanted guests to book 6 months out…and we all know that’s not gonna happen. Plus the rooms are really tiny…even though I never got to see them bc the weekend we were there the hotel was completely booked do the San Sebastián festivals.

So here’s the deal…I spoke to the woman (Louisse) that is taking over your contract about possibly doing a rehearsal dinner on the rooftop, but it was way over budget for rehearsal dinner (5K). The roof top is really nice and I think will go with your theme perfectly.

I mentioned you she and she said that yes she remembered you and that you were having your rehearsal on the roof top…but I would say you are right about the contract. Have it signed ASAP! The reason why she followed you is because her family actually owns both properties…Hosteria del mar and olive boutique. Hosteria del mar is no longer gonna be doing weddings at the “house” upstairs bc her aunt is moving into that house, and they plan on renovating the deck they have outside. (We visited twice as a possibility for the rehearsal but it was soooooo run-down needs MAJOR TLC…which I think thTs why Louisse is letting her Aunt take over bc she probably couldn’t handle the stress of owning two properties. The Island time is a real problem…I think it’s very unprofessional!!

Pega loca!! Congrats again! Can’t wait to hear how everything went! Please tell us about all your vendors since I am using like 3 of them lol

@MrsRebaHairston:  I was wondering why you disappear for so long! I think you will feel much better once you actually have a contract. I can’t beleive that lady is the new contact. Hopefully she will be better at this location. Is there anyone else you could speak to if necessary?

@AlyPV: How are things going? Did you ever get in contact with the car guy? My photographer gave me a number which I think may be the same guy but I haven’t contacted him yet. If you need it let me know.

Omg I am also planning my wedding in puerto rico… and have found prices are craaaaazy! I’m looking at el san juan resort and casino bc they have the best reviews, but most places have a 10k minimum on food and beverage purchases alone! AH After service fees and taxes, thats easily 14k! Its looking at my 15k budget for everything is not gonna happen… ahhh so discouraged!

LobitaCubana:  Sorry for the late response =D I think I may have the number for the car guy but called one day two months back and it seemed to be a residence that had a filled voicemail. Please forward me the number your photographer gave you as that’s probably the best bet for the “real” number lol Thanks so much for checking back in with me!   Here’s what I have officially booked: Antiguo Casino de San Juan—This was ridiculously expensive but only justified because FH’s parents made a hefty donation—thank the Lord because this was my dream location πŸ™‚ Jose Ruiz Photography: He already took our engagement shots in Old San Juan back in January and I can already tell we made an awesome choice, he is truly an artist! Catedral de San Juan Bautista (Church) Gabriel Gonzales Videography C+M Cakes–a bit on the $$ side but the idea Carlos presented us with blew us away…we really couldn’t say no, especially after tasting the cakes, delicious! We booked our cigar roller for the cigar bar at the reception, his name slipped my mind at the moment. Also we booked the Planero group who will put on a 30 minute performance at reception (FH’s family and mine will LOVE this surprise!) We also booked Pancho Irizzary to play the spanish guitar during the ceremony in the church, this was something I always wanted as well. DJ Rockhand will be providing our cocktail hour and reception entertainment. We are still yet to book the transportation because we are thinking of just renting chauffered SUV’s for our families and wedding party since the distance from the church and the venue are not even 5 blocks away. It would simply be to avoid heat problems and issues for the ladies in heels.   Our wedding isn’t for a year, I think we are doing well πŸ™‚ Did I forget anything?   Oh, and I am set to go dress shopping next month here in NYC for the first time! SO excited!

weddingbee098:  I don’t know exactly how many guests you are expecting or what style you are going for but I went to look at Casa de Espana in San Juan and it was beaitufil for smaller parties (it was unfortunately too small for our needs). I loved that it had an old spanish feel and it was super inexpensive because everything is brought in from the outside with vendors you hire. That keeps prices down because you’re able to work around your budget for each separate item. No minimim either I believe although I don’t remember. Check it out, I would hate for you to feel limited, there is something for everyone on the island! goodluck!!

weddingbee098:  Glad to see you stopped by. Hopefully you have had a chance to read through and see some options. There are definitely places that could work for your budget. Casa Olimpica, Casa de España (I’m having my wedding there), restaurants, some of the smaller hotels. Any questions, just ask! Are you working with a planner?  Are you going to PR to check out places?

AlyPV:  Sounds like you are doing awesome! You have a lot done early which is great, you will be able to relax later on. My goal is to pretty much be done wih everything after April so I could relax until October. I also have DJ Rockhand booked. By chance, I met him and Keyla at a wedding show that I went to last week! That was pretty cool. I basically have catering and decorations left to worry about but that should definitely be booked after we go to a tasting in April.

Dress shopping is exciting! I bought my dress last month! What stores are you planning on going to?

Here’s the number my photographer gave me for the car: Don Pedro 787-614-8758.  Let me know how it goes.

pegaloca:  did you have to pay for the tastings? Cake and/or catering food? Our planner is telling us there is a fee. Just wondering is that is normal.
