Wow, 20K in NYC? We’re going to have a hard time with 30k in Lexington, KY! Course we’re kinda doing things a little bit fancy! But still, that’s an awesome price!

I live in NYC but am getting married in Pittsburgh (where we’re both from) and I can’t even get a wedding THERE under $20,000!!

That’s incredible!!!! Seriously, we tried as best we could, we went with the least expensive venue that we found & liked and our Venue ALONE is a little over $20k… WOW – good for you!!

20k is a steal girlie!!! Take it and RUN!! 

In fact, that would have been a great deal in Ohio when I was planning my wedding!  NYC – amazing!

That’s about what we’re planning to spend on in the City as well, and we’re doing an afternoon wedding in the winter! Enjoy 🙂

I know the feeling, we originally thought we would spend around 13k, but it’s at 17k, and most likely will end up at 20k by the end of it all with everything accounted for.  You begin with one number in your head of what is reasonable to spend, but once you start looking and realize how expensive things are and how quickly they add up, it begins to make sense.  We’re realized we were way off on some of our estimates, and even though we are still looking to save wherever we can, there are some things where it’s too hard to compromise on, i.e., pictures, that was our first price shock, but after seeing poor quality pics, we decided it was worth it.

I am in NYC and I am spending $27K on just the venue/food/drinks/cake!  So yeah, $20K is an amazing deal if you can make it happen!

From a fellower NYCer, that’s bargain if that includes absolutely everything.  $20k covers our reception and venue w/o alcohol; but it was tough to find anything less for what we needed to have, so I still feel like we did well.  And I’ve kept everything as tight as I can.

You’re very smart to use a restaurant— I think in NYC, that’s the only way to go with a more restrained budget.

If 20k is more than you can afford, you may want to look at venues in the boroughs or outside the city.  Here’s how one lady did a wedding for $5k in Brooklyn.

I am also having a 20K (which realistically becoming a $23K) and the thing throwing us over is the florists.  I cant get a quote for under $2K!

Alot of NYC vendors are negotiating – so $20K is a minimal amt but definately acceptable!

Good for you!!! I am a NY bride and decided to get married in the Hudson Valley area to save money. We are expecting 45 guests are are breakdown looks like this:

Venue & catering = approx. $8,000  (expensive for a small group but we consider it a steal because we are getting private use of a B&B for the ceremony & reception on a Saturday evening in the summertime)

Officant= $250

Dress= $370

Honeymoon suite= Free

photographer = $1900 (for a couple. And she is amazing! Got a reduced price for a shorter time and for having a small wedding)

DJ/live music= $2000 (a husband/wife DJ team)

Videographer = $600

wedding party gifts= $400

Save the dates,invites & website= $150

Rings= $1500 (including e-ring)

hair & makeup= $200

Flowers= $200

total = $15570

I am having my wedding in November in NYC and I am staying below $20K as well.  Here is a rough overview:

venue and catering: $12K – Saturday night sit down dinner for 70 people

DJ- $0 – they have a built in stereo speaker system – we have already made ipod playlists

photographer – $600 total – $500 for four hours of a photographer – all digital prints on disk are ours we can print at home or put onto snapfish and $100 for albums

flowers $800 total – $500 for florist doing the ceremony flowers and $300 for centerpieces made of silk flowers guests can bring home and use for the holidays

Invitations: $225 including postage, save the dates and thank you notes

attire: $1800 total for my dress and accessories and his suit and accessories

officiant – $80 – my brother who was ordained online and registered with NYC

Favors – $75 – CD’s with music from the wedding, made by me which also serve double duty as placecards for the guests

Other $1500 – programs, baskets and pillows, guest books, napkins, aisle runners,  attendant gifts, hair and makeup for me day of wedding, wedding night hotel room, etc.

tip – EBAY for wedding supplies.  I am a DIY girl, and ebay has great deals on NEW products.

Where are you getting married????? I’m getting married in BK.. and I’m over 70K.. I WISH I could only spend 20K on a wedding..but it seems impossible to me.
