I am 23 weeks and for quite some time my nipples have been hurting/sore on and off, now within the past few days to a week, it is been more steady, first the right, now the left. This is something that doesn’t surprise me, my nipples darkened and started to enlarge months ago. they are still darkening and englarging, to which I wonder how big these things can get! The thing is freaking me out is that my husband has been doing alot of reading pertaining to pregnancy, which is great, but he seems to think that this pain is the milk ducts and is figuring colostrum is coming. UGH, I don’t even have nipple pads yet, and I am just a bit over half way, I don’t want to be leaking any more than I have too.
Pregnant bees/past pregnant bees with any knowledge or experience with this PLEASE help me out

I know sore nipples is certainly part of the pregnancy deal, but I’m not sure when the milk and such should be comming. Have you asked your OB?
I know mama bees will have some advice!

If it makes you feel any better, my nips were killing about a week ago and I was only 5 weeks at the time, so I don’t think that necessarily means colostrum will be coming in. I always thought that happened closer to the en, but I’m not positive.

My breasts hurt too. Especially in the shower, it feels like bullets are hitting me with every drop of water. I am only 15 weeks and have had a little leaking too. My breasts look huge! They were already pretty big. It is not just the nipples, but the little bumps on the areola that hurt too. I don’t have any advice for you, but I want you to know that you are not alone.

@trugem:Thanks, your already leaking? I guess I can count my self lucky. Every day that goes by that I wake up and I am not leaking is a bonus. a Girlfriend told me she started leaking colostrum at about 12 weeks 🙁

@wbrn: Yep. I don’t catch it while it is happening so I didn’t know what it was at first. I would wake up and see it after it had dried. I described it to my mama and she told me it was okay.
