We are shopping for an engagement ring on Blue Nile, and I am trying to decide between the 2mm platinum or the 2.5mm platinum band…does anyone have a plain band that is 2mm or 2.5mm from anywhere or even better from blue nile that they could show me? There are pics oon the site but not on real hands!

My first wedding band (I returned it) was 2mm, and it was way too thin for my engagement ring. My ring has a high setting, and you couldn’t even see the band!

@mayaro: Mine is a 2.4mm band from Adiamor.com. It’s a pave setting (rather than a plain band). My finger size is 4.75. The center stone looks a little wonky in the pic but you get the idea of band width.

i’d suggest going to a brick & mortar jewelry store to try on rings, so you can see what size looks best on your finger and with your e-ring, and then you can order the ring you pick online from blue nile. for me, i wear a small ring size and like thin bands in general, so for me the thinner the better. but for others (like the poster above), they feel the thinner band looks dwarfed by their e-ring. i think it depends on finger size, e-ring size, and just personal preference.
(sorry i don’t have a picture for you, i haven’t bought my band yet and don’t have any pictures with them on)

my engagement is either 1.9mm or a 2mm band, and my wedding bands are also 2mm each. i went as small as i could because i knew i would end up with two wedding bands at one point. my ring size is 4.25

um, i’m an idiot and didn’t read the post correctly…for some reason i thought you were shopping for a band, not an e-ring. soooo…..disregard. except still go try some rings on at a store–it is soooo different from just looking at pictures online! i was totally wrong about what i thought i’d like, when i actually tried real rings on.

Here is a pic of my 2mm e-ring with my 3mm wedding band. I am still thinking about returning the wedding band for a 2mm since I’m not sure of how I like how the band is so much wider than then the e-ring.

My e-ring is from Blue Nile, and the band is 2.2 mm…

I tried on the 2mm and 3mm. I liked the 2mm more because I wanted more diamond and less band. If you have average size hands the 2mm may work for you. I wear a 7.5 ring finger and it fit nicely. Also consider the type of wedding band you may decide on. I like the 3mm 2 carat eternity band. I think 6mm on my hand is a bit much for my style. Think of it as a pair….maybe that will help.

My E ring is just under 2mm and my wedding band is 2mm
